How to make Anti-Valentine’s Day Cupcakes
Preheat the oven to 350 F degrees.
After forming the cupcake liners into hearts (Only if you want to, you can skip this part and have regular cupcakes.), make the cake batter according to the package.
I made my cupcakes into swirls of black and red AND red and black. For those, take out 2 cups of cake batter into another bowl.
In first bowl, squirt a big dollop of gel food coloring in black and mix until the batter is completely black in color.
In the second bowl, squirt a dollop of gel food coloring in red and mix until the batter is completely red in color.
Take one color and fill each cupcake liner half way.
Then, take a spoon and 1/2 a tablespoon of the other color.
Use a knife or toothpick and gently swirl the colors.
I had enough batter to do about 18 cupcakes, so I did opposite swirls. Half the cupcakes were black with red swirls and the other half were red with black swirls.
Bake for about 18 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean from the center of the cupcakes.
Allow to completely cool.
How to decorate Anti-Valentine Cupcakes
Take one can of frosting and color it black with gel food coloring.
Take the second can of frosting and color it red with the gel food coloring.
Once the cupcakes are completely cool, frost the cupcakes with black icing.
Transfer the red frosting to a pastry bag with a frosting tip for writing. Then, write short phrases for anti-valentines. Here’s a few examples:
- Salty
- Nope
- Dream On
- As If
- Whatever
- Bite Me
- Next
- Get Away
- Stupid Cupid
- Hater
