What do you need to make Ocean Beach Chocolate Bark?
You’ll need a few things to make this fun ocean and beach-themed treat:
- 2 bags royal blue candy melts
- Honey Teddy Grahams and/or Chocolate Teddy Grahams
- Gold Sanding Sugar
- Blue Sanding Sugar
- Peach Rings
- Swedish Fish
- Mini Swedish Fish
- Gummy Sharks
How do you make Ocean Beach Chocolate Bark?
Prepare a cookie sheet with wax paper or parchment paper. I personally like wax paper better as I think the candy melt is easier to pull off when it’s hardened.
Melt the candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second increments. Make sure to stir after each time in the microwave.
Usually they are completely melted after about 2 to 2 1/2 minutes total in the microwave. Stir until they are completely smooth.
Pour out the candy melts onto the wax paper and smooth out with a spoon or spatula into roughly a rectangle shape. Don’t make it too thin.
Add gold sanding sugar to side of the rectangle for about 2-3 inches down to be like the sand on a beach. As an alternative, you could also use brown sugar, turbinado sugar (raw sugar), or even crushed graham crackers.
Then, for the rest of the candy melt, add blue sanding sugar.
Add peach rings along the gold sanding sugar with a teddy graham pushed into the top of the ring to look like it’s floating in an inner tube.
Now in the rest of the “water” add the Swedish fish and gummy sharks in the ocean.
You can let it sit on the counter for an hour or two to harden or you can harden it quickly in the freezer in about 10-15 minutes. Just make sure you put it flat in the freezer, so it hardens while flat.
When the chocolate bark is hard, break it up into pieces.
If this is for a party, you can serve it on a platter or make it as a take home gift and add a couple pieces to cellophane bags tied with ribbon.
