What do you need to make Summer Fun Beach Pull Apart Cupcake Cake?

You’ll need a few things like your favorite cupcakes. You can make a box mix or cupcakes from scratch, whatever you prefer. Here’s the ingredients you’ll need:
- 12 cupcakes (your favorite store bought or made from scratch)
- Royal Blue gel food color
- white buttercream frosting
- 1 cup brown sugar
You’ll need a few cake making supplies as well:
- Summer cake topper kit
- Cake Board
- Offset spatula or spoon
- (3) 12 or 16-inch piping bags
- Tip 5 piping tip (if writing on cake)
How do you make these Summer Fun Beach Pull Apart Cupcake Cake?
After the cupcakes have cooled completely and the buttercream frosting is made, line the cupcakes up on the cake board.

Add a small amount of white buttercream frosting to the bottom of each cupcake to glue it in place.
Mix the blue food coloring with 1 cup of the buttercream frosting.
Fill a piping bag with the blue buttercream frosting.

Cut off the tip of the piping bag and pipe zig zag rows of buttercream over the tops of the cupcakes.

Use an offset spatula or a spoon to frost the cupcakes and create “waves” on them.
If writing across the frosting, fit a piping bag with tip # 5 and fill it with the white buttercream frosting.
Write the message before adding toys to accent the frosting.
Add a thick line of white buttercream around all 4 sides of the cake board near the cupcakes.

Spread the frosting out with offset spatula or spoon.
Top that frosting with brown sugar to create the illusion of sand.

Press the brown sugar into the buttercream so it doesn’t fall off when moving the pull apart.
Add additional beach themed cake or cupcake toppers.
