What is tasseography?
Tasseography is the fortune-telling method that interprets patterns in tea leaves. You can also use coffee grounds or wine sediments.
Supplies needed to read tea leaves
- Loose leaf tea – black, early gray, etc. – I like to stick wtih black because it’s easier to find.
- Water
- A tea cup and saucer
- Napkins or paper towels
How to read tea leaves?
Boil a couple cups of water.
While it’s boiling, add three pinches of loose leaf black tea to the bottom of your cup.
Add the boiling water and let it steep for five minutes. Add less water than you think is necessary.
Fix your tea how you like it, milk, sugar, etc., and let it cool and drink it.
Sip your tea until there’s just barely any liquid.
While you’re sipping, think about what you want to see in the tea leaves.
Swirl it around a few times quickly and then dump in out on the napkin.
Flip the tea cup over and look for shapes in the tea leaves.
