Ingredients for a So Long London Fog
- 2 cups hot water
- 2 teaspoons loose earl grey and lavender tea (or 2 tea bags of earl grey and lavender tea)
- 1/2 cup milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoons honey
- Food-grade lavender buds
How do you make a So Long London Fog?
This will make two mugs of this deliciously comforting drink.
First, boil the water.
Add a small spoonful of earl gray and lavender tea to the bottom of the mugs.
Another option is using a tea bag for each mug. Twinings does an earl gray and lavender tea bag, but I haven’t been able to find it any grocery stores.
Pour the hot water over the tea bags and let them steep for 3 minutes.
While the tea is steeping, froth the milk. This is the milk frother I use, and it makes it so easy. I can froth the milk either hot or cold, and I can walk away while it’s frothing. Plus, it’s super easy to clean.
Mix in the honey and vanilla until they are well combined.
Pour the milk froth over the top.
Add a few lavender buds.
Drink and enjoy!
Substitutions
Tea: You don’t have to use an earl gray and lavender tea because they can be hard to find. But I do recommend sticking with earl gray. However, there are a lot of earl gray teas, and they all don’t always taste the same, so choose your favorite. You can even make this decaf if needed.
Milk: You can any milk you prefer, even non-dairy milk will work. I used organic whole milk for our So Long London Fog drinks.
Honey: I would recommend sticking with honey over another sweetener because this drink has a floral flavor to it, and the honey accents the lavender really well. But, if you’re in a pinch and don’t have any, sugar is fine.
Lavender Buds: This is completely optional. It’s not really for consuming. It adds a nice scent and flavor and makes it look really pretty, but the lavender buds aren’t necessary. I do recommend sticking with food-grade lavender since you’re putting in a drink.
