What do you need to make Valentine Cookie Cups?
You need just a few things:
- any kind of cookie dough
- frosting – store bought or homemade
- Valentine sprinkles
- Valentine sugar decorations
- Valentine Junior Mints
These cookie cups are so easy to make, and the kids can help. They will love decorating them, and these are the perfect treat to take to school for the Valentine’s Day party!
Or better yet, this would be a fun treat and activity at the party by letting the kids decorate their own cookie cup!

How do you make these Valentine Cookie Cups?
First, grease a muffin tin with nonstick oil spray. It makes the cookies come out easier.
Make your favorite cookie dough, or you can be like me and just buy refrigerated cookie dough.
Then fill each muffin tin about 1/3 up with cookie dough and press it into the bottom of each one.
Bake for about 10-12 minutes, until the cookies are golden brown.
Let the cookies cool before you remove them. You want them to be able to hold together while you take them out of the muffin tins. Sometimes, I use a very sharp knife to get them out of the muffin tin easier.
Then, let the cookies completely cool before adding the frosting, or it will become a gooey melty mess.
When the cookies are completely cooled, add a small rosette of frosting. We used chocolate and vanilla frosting from Pillsbury that’s already in the piping bags. You can also use the pretty Funfetti canned frosting colors like pink, red, or purple!
Next, add your sprinkles and top off with an icing decorations. We used these adorable icing sugar conversation hearts from Wilton and Valentine heart-shaped Junior Mints.

Can you make cookie cups ahead of time?
You can definitely make these cookies the night before. Just keep them in a sealed container so they don’t get stale. I would hold off on decorating until the day of the event, so the icing doesn’t get too hard.
This would be perfect to do if you’re making just the cookie cups ahead of time and letting the kids do the decorating!
I found using the Pillsbury pastry bags of frosting, that if you leave the cookies sitting out on the counter, the frosting gets very hard after several hours.
How do you store leftover Valentine Cookie Cups?
I just keep them in a sealed plasticware container on the counter for 2-3 days.
