You’ll need at least one package of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Trees. The larger size of the trees that come in the 6 pack or the king size package with 2 trees.
The snack size Reese’s Trees are too small to put on a lollipop stick. You could decorate the snack size instead and just not use lollipop sticks.
You’ll also need some lollipop sticks as well as 1 bag of green candy melts.
Plus, you’ll need Christmas sprinkles and bags of cookie icing.
Optional that works well is candy coated sunflower seeds. (They look like Christmas lights!)
How do you make Reese’s Peanut Butter Christmas Tree Pops?
First, unwrap the Reese’s Trees and place them on wax paper on a cookie sheet.
Insert a lollipop stick into the bottom of each Reese’s Tree and gently push it upwards until it’s securely inside the Reese’s Tree.
Freeze the Reese’s Trees. I like to freeze them for about 30 minutes, but 15 minutes is probably good enough.
While the trees are freezing, melt the green candy melts in the microwave. I put them in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 30 second increments, stirring after each time, until the candy melts are completely melted. I find it takes about 1 1/2 minutes to completely melt and stir them smooth.
Remove the Reese’s Trees from the freezer and dip each one in the candy melt. Make sure each is completely covered. Gently tap the tree on the the side of the bowl to make sure the excess comes off.
Then place each Tree back on the wax paper to harden.
When you’ve dipped all the trees, place the cookie sheet back in the freezer for another 15-30 minutes.
While the Trees are freezing, prepare small bowls of Christmas sprinkles and knead the bags of cookie frosting.
When they are ready to come out of the freezer, place a piece of wax paper in front of each child with 2-3 Reese’s Trees in front of them.
Have them pipe the cookie frosting however they would like before adding sprinkles.
They can also use another lollipop stick to add small dollops of green candy melt like glue to add sprinkles.
Place the Reese’s Trees back in the freezer for just 10 minutes.
Then, eat and enjoy or package up in cellophane bags for gift giving.
