Do you love banana bread? Here’s a fun seasonal twist for turning it into Halloween OREO Graveyard Banana Bread! Your family will love this festive treat! And, it’s a great way to use up that banana graveyard!
In this recipe, we add crushed OREOs both to the banana bread batter and to the top of the bread for decorating. Adding it to the batter helps darken it for a more “sinister” graveyard coloring.

- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 4 tablespoons melted butter
- 13 OREOs – crushed

How do you make an OREO Graveyard Banana Bread?
Line a 9 x 5 loaf pan with foil. Then spray the foil with non-stick oil spray. This makes it easy to remove the loaf from the pan so you can decorate it.
Mash the bananas.
Combine the bananas, egg, sugar, flour, salt, baking soda, vanilla, and melted butter in one large mixing bowl.
Don’t over mix the batter. Just mix until everything is moistened.
Crush the OREO cookies in a food processor or blender.
Pour 3/4 of the crushed OREO cookies into the banana bread mixture. Gently fold the crumbs into the batter.
Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan.
Smooth it out and tap it on the counter to make it as flat as possible.
Bake for 60-70 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Remove from pan and allow to cool.
While the banana bread is cooling, melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second increments, stirring after each time, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
Add a squirt of black gel food coloring and stir until it’s completely combined.
Line a cookie sheet with wax paper.
Drop the biscoff cookies one at a time in the melted chocolate and cover with chocolate.
Lift up the biscoff cookie with a fork and gently tap it on the side of the bowl to remove any chocolate. Set each cookie with it’s backside facing up on the wax paper to dry.
When all the cookies are coated, pop the cookie sheet into the freezer for 10 minutes to quickly harden them.
Melt the white chocolate in the exact same way as the chocolate chips.
the white chocolate is ready, transfer it to a ziplock bag. Remove the cookies from the freezer. Snip a very tiny corner of the ziplock bag.
Remove the banana bread from the loaf pan to a platter or plate.
Pipe RIP or any other graveyard saying on the chocolate covered cookies.
Insert the gravestone cookies into the top of the banana bread.
Cover the places of insertion in the banana bread with the rest of the OREO cookie crumbs and add some extra to look like fresh dug graves, maybe some on the plate. Serve and enjoy!
Can you make this banana bread ahead of time?
Yes you can make the banana bread ahead of time. Just wrap it in plastic wrap and refrigerate it or freeze it until the day you’re ready to use it.
Don’t insert the gravestone cookies or add the OREO crumbs on top until you’re ready to serve it.
How to store leftovers for this Halloween banana bread?
Wrap the banana bread in plastic wrap and leave on the counter for 2-3 days or refrigerate up to a week. You can also freeze it, but it let it defrost on the counter.
