We have been excited for Avengers Infinity War forever! So I had to make some edible Avengers Infinity Stones as cake bites! This post contains affiliate links.
Years ago on a sports channel, there was this game show called “Stump the Schwab” where contestants would try to stump this former ESPN statistician. He usually always bested them.
My teenage son is a HUGE comic book character fan. He doesn’t usually read the comic books, but through movies and YouTube videos and wikis, he knows all the lore and backstories of so many Marvel characters. It’s uncanny how you can ask about anyone, and he’ll talk for several minutes about so many aspects about that one character. If they ever had a game show for that, he’s be the one to stump.
Recently, he and I were talking about the new AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR movie. He has been excited for this movie for literally YEARS. He has been explaining to me who Thanos is and what the Infinity Stones are and where they come from, etc. He is so excited to go on opening night and see all the characters come together.

How do you make Avengers Infinity Stones Cake Bites?
When I learned about the Infinity Stones I just knew it would be fun to make them edible, like out of cake. So today I’ve got a fun recipe for cake truffles as AVENGERS: Infinity Cake Stones. These are definitely not quick, but they are easy and look amazing! Plus, they are so much fun to make. They would be perfect to wrap up for an AVENGERS party as the treat to take home.
These are the supplies I used to make the AVENGERS: Infinity Cake Stones:
- White Cake Mix
- Neon gel food colors
- Regular gel food colors
- 6 colors of candy melts
- Silicon gem mold
- Ez Thin
First, I made a regular white box cake mix according to the directions and then separated the batter into 6 bowls. I used food coloring to dye them in red, blue, green, yellow, orange, and lavender to match the candy melt colors. Then, I made 2 cupcakes per color in one cupcake tin. This was plenty to make the cake part.
When the cupcakes were completely cool, I added a tablespoon of canned cream cheese frosting to a bowl with one cupcake and created the cake ball material. Then, set this aside.
In small microwaveable bowls (I used small ramekins) I melted about 1/2 cup of each candy melt color. I did 3 colors at a time. I would melt each bowl for 30 seconds and stir. Then, I would melt each bowl an additional 30 seconds. Then, I would add about a teaspoon pinch amount of the Ez Thin to the color and mix until completely smooth.
I would add about a teaspoon amount of melted candy to each mold and used the back of a spoon to pull it up on the sides of each gem mold. Sometimes I would need to add just a little bit extra to make sure the bottom of each mold was completely covered and not too thin. I would do this for the three melted colors.
While the melted candy was hardening in the mold, I would roll out the tiny cake balls. They were less than an inch in diameter. You want them to fit down into the mold when you push them in so they aren’t coming out on top. Add each cake ball to it’s mold with the coordinating candy melt color.
If you work fast enough, you might not have to reheat the melted candy melts. But, I found I would have to remelt a couple of them each time. Then, get a spoonful of the candy melt and gently pour it over the top to fill in the gaps around the cake balls. Then, gently and carefully smooth the candy melt over the top of each gem mold. You might need to add a little tiny bit extra to do it. This takes just a little practice, and as I did more of these, it got easier to figure out how to make them smooth.
Then, pop them in the freezer or just wait about 10-15 minutes and you can easily pop them out of the molds.
Do this exact same thing for the other three colors of candy melts and cupcakes.
DO NOT store in the fridge as the candy melts will get condensation and get yucky. I found putting them in a sealed container on the counter works great or just covering them with plastic wrap on a plate works well, too. They’ll last a few days.

But the real question is, where is Hawkeye? I will be so upset if he’s not in this movie! But I do love the cake and I know my kids will, too.
First I would have to get that cook baking pan to make the stones. The grandkids would love making and eating these cake stones. They do love the Avengers and all have their favorite character.
These are so fun. And they’re pretty! I can see how kids will love them. We’re excited about the new Avengers movie.
My grandkids would go crazy over these cake stones. They love Avengers everything! I wouldn’t mind biting into one or two of them myself. I love how they look so realistic.
These are so cool. My son loves the Avengers but he’s choosing Ninja Turtles as his birthday theme. Otherwise I’d make this!
First off – creative AF – haha! But secondly, I am PUMPEDDDDDDDDDDD for this movie!!!
How freaking cute is this?! I can’t wait for Avengers: Infinity War to come out next month (I’ve already gotten my tickets to see it). This would be perfect for any Marvel fan.
These are adorable! I need to do some catch-up on the Avengers series. I have seen the first two but I know there are quite a few made since I have seen those. I know my family wants to go see this movie so I better catch up LOL.
This is such a clever idea. It would be so much fun to add to my nephews birthday cake or cupcakes.
Now this is what I consider to be absolutely brilliant! Any tips on how to make the candy melts go on super smoothly?
Buy the Wilton tub of Ez Thin. I think you can find it at Joann’s or Walmart. Melt them into the candy melts and they turn super smooth. In 1/2 cup of candy melt, I used a big pinch of them, which I’m guessing was probably around a 1/2 tablespoon.
I need to make these right now, and my youngest will be right with me. She and I have watched every movie and my husband fills in the backstory (he read all the comics as a kid).
How fun are these! I love the way you made these. These would be amazing for birthday parties and play dates. This was a very clever creation!
These cake pops…err…stones are so adorable! My kids have just gotten into the Avengers after going on a Marvel themed Disney cruise so they would LOVE this recipe.
Oh my gosh, this was such a creative idea! The kids are dying to see this movie and they would seriously LOVE to make these!
What a treat especially for the fans of the movie! I’m pretty sure it’s going to be a hit with both the kids and adults! It’s really lovely and I love that they’re easy to make!
This has to be the most creative sweet treats that I’ve seen that’s dedicated to the latest installment of Avengers. I love how it looks and it’s definitely going to be loved by the kids!
Okay, those look super simple to make. I’m sure they are a tasty little treat for the kiddos too!
Wow, this is a very cool idea. I will try to make this too. Also I will take note of your advise not to put it in the fridge to avoid making it looks yucky. Haha Thanks!
So I have this gems silicone mold. We used it for a cake topper for my daughter’s birthday and I haven’t used it since. What a clever way to use it again. Love this idea.
