A couple days ago, I shared how to make these super cute Valentines Bookmarks to give as gifts. But… as a romance author, I thought you might enjoy these DIY Sexy Valentine’s Day Bookmarks.

If you’re an author….
I wanted to give you a secret tip if you’re an author, especially a fiction author. There is no better business card than a bookmark. When I go to book fairs to sell my books, I give away TONS of bookmarks at every in-person author event I go to. I make a variety on Canva and add a QR code directly to my reader magnet or my website, and then get them printed at Walgreens for pennies.
If you’re just giving these as gifts, you can skip the QR code. But, you can also upgrade them to laminated with tassels to make them extra special. They’re perfect for giving them as party favors for a Galentine’s Day get together.
Download the Files
When you download this, you’ll get a PDF with 12 different designs. You have 2 options:
#1 You can print single-sided bookmarks.
#2 If you want professionally made double-sided bookmarks, then I have found your best bet is Walgreens. In that PDF to download, you’ll also find a link directly to the templates. You can download them in the correct size to upload directly to Walgreens.
You can get them made (doublesided!) for about 50 cents a bookmark. And…. if you look online, there are always coupons for at least 50-60% the photo department at Walgreens. I ordered some in December and got 60% off and I just now found a coupon code easily that was 50% off.
Upload & Print at Walgreens

Choose bookmark. It will be double-sided.
Order in groups of 4. For bookmarks for my author events, I order 20-24 of each print, and order about 200 total.
These are available for Same-Day Pickup.
Before you submit the order, search for discount codes. Walgreens ALWAYS has discount codes for their photo center.
How to laminate Valentine bookmarks
Whether you print them yourself or you get them printed at Walgreens, you can make them even nicer by laminating them.
To make your Valentine’s Day bookmarks even sturdier, laminate them with a Scotch Thermal Laminator. I use the laminating pouches made for 8 1/2 x 11-inch paper, which can laminate 5-6 bookmarks in one pouch.

Place the bookmarks into the laminator pouch.

Run it through the machine.

Cut out the laminated bookmarks.
How to make a Bookmark Tassel
Here are the supplies you need to make the tassel.

- Start by unrolling two full lengths of embroidery floss from the skein. Cut this piece off and set it aside, you’ll use it in a moment.
- Next, unroll two more full lengths of embroidery floss, but do not cut this piece from the skein yet. Let it stay attached.
- Take the cut piece you set aside and fold it in half. Tie an overhand knot at the folded end. This will create a loop at the top and two loose ends hanging down.
- Gently open the two loose ends from the knot and place the uncut skein piece in the center of them. Tie the loose ends together tightly in the middle, securing the skein in place.
- Now, fold the skein in half so it hangs evenly from the loop at the top. This forms the body of your tassel.
- Take the long, uncut two-length piece of floss and begin wrapping it tightly around the top of the folded skein, just below the loop. Wrap several times, stopping about ¼ inch below the loop.
- Leave a long tail, then thread that tail through a needle. Push the needle straight through the wrapped section, pulling the floss into the center to hide the end.
- Remove the needle and trim the bottom of the tassel so the strands are even.
- Punch a hole at the top center of your bookmark. Thread the tassel loop through the hole, then pull the tassel ends through the loop and tighten.

And that’s it, you’ve got a finished bookmark tassel that looks way fancier than it actually was to make.
