These Valentine Bookmarks have become one of my favorite things to give out on Valentine’s Day for class parties, Galentine’s Day, or just because. Who doesn’t love a cute bookmark? And making them for Valentine’s Day classroom parties is perfect!

Valentine bookmarks for kids are one of my favorite easy Valentine’s Day party favors. They’re cute, inexpensive, and actually useful, plus they’re a fun alternative to candy-only valentines. If you’re putting together Valentine’s Day classroom treats or school Valentine ideas, these printable bookmarks are a simple way to send kids home with something they’ll keep using long after the party ends.
You can make these DIY Valentine bookmarks one of two ways.
First, when you download the printable below, there will be two ways to do this:
#1 You can download the PDFs and print bookmarks at home on cardstock and cut them out yourself. But I’m not an expert aqt printing them double-sided, so you might have to print them just single-sided.
#2 Or, when you download my free printable Valentine bookmarks there is a link to directly get the Canva bookmark template at the top of the PDF. Then, you can order professional double-sided printed bookmarks. Mine came from Walgreens and they turned out amazing. Quick tip before you order, search for a Walgreens photo discount code or a promo for stationery, I found one and got 50% off.

How to laminate Valentine bookmarks
Whether you print them yourself or you get them printed at Walgreens, you can make them even nicer by laminating them.
To make your Valentine’s Day bookmarks even sturdier, laminate them with a Scotch Thermal Laminator. I use the laminating pouches made for 8 1/2 x 11-inch paper, which can laminate 5-6 bookmarks in one pouch.
How to make a Bookmark Tassel
Here are the supplies you need to make the tassel.

- Start by unrolling two full lengths of embroidery floss from the skein. Cut this piece off and set it aside, you’ll use it in a moment.
- Next, unroll two more full lengths of embroidery floss, but do not cut this piece from the skein yet. Let it stay attached.
- Take the cut piece you set aside and fold it in half. Tie an overhand knot at the folded end. This will create a loop at the top and two loose ends hanging down.
- Gently open the two loose ends from the knot and place the uncut skein piece in the center of them. Tie the loose ends together tightly in the middle, securing the skein in place.
- Now, fold the skein in half so it hangs evenly from the loop at the top. This forms the body of your tassel.
- Take the long, uncut two-length piece of floss and begin wrapping it tightly around the top of the folded skein, just below the loop. Wrap several times, stopping about ¼ inch below the loop.
- Leave a long tail, then thread that tail through a needle. Push the needle straight through the wrapped section, pulling the floss into the center to hide the end.
- Remove the needle and trim the bottom of the tassel so the strands are even.
- Punch a hole at the top center of your bookmark. Thread the tassel loop through the hole, then pull the tassel ends through the loop and tighten.

And that’s it, you’ve got a finished bookmark tassel that looks way fancier than it actually was to make.
You can hand out the bookmark by itself as a non-candy Valentine, or make a simple Valentine goodie bag by pairing it with a few Hershey Kisses in small bags attached with double-sided tape or embroidery floss from the tassel for a classic, kid-approved treat.
