I know hot cocoa is not exactly a summer drink, but who cares. We drink hot cocoa year round, and we live in Texas. These Red, White, and Blue Patriotic Hot Cocoa Bombs are just the thing to celebrate the 4th of July!

What do you need to make these 4th of July Hot Cocoa Bombs?
You are going to need candy melts in red, white, and royal blue. It takes about 2 bags of the red and about 1/2 a bag of blue and white.
You’ll also need the sphere candy molds.
You’ll also need hot chocolate mix and marshmallows. For the marshmallows, you can use mini marshmallows, or I love to use the chocolate stuffed marshmallows. We found blues ones at the grocery store.
You’ll also need patriotic sprinkles and star sprinkles.
How do you make these patriotic hot chocolate bombs?
Begin by melting the red candy melts in a microwave safe bowl in 30 second increments. Stirring each time before microwaving again. It takes me about 2 to 3 minutes total to get them completely melted and smooth.
Place 1 to 1 1/2 tablespoons of melted candy into a mold. Use the bottom of your spoon to press the chocolate up the sides of the mold, keeping it thick but even. Repeat this with all the bomb molds. Make sure it’s fairly thick as you don’t want a weak bomb that will break too soon.
Place the chocolate filled bomb molds into the freezer for 5 minutes.
While they are setting, melt the blue candy melts and then white candy melts in the same way in 30-second increments, stirring each time, until smooth. Then, place each color into separate ziplock bags or piping bags. Set aside.
Remove the bomb molds from the freezer and gently peel the silicone mold away from the chocolate cups.
Fill 6 of the chocolate cups with 1 tablespoon hot chocolate mix, 1 large marshmallow (or 5-7 mini marshmallows), and 1 teaspoon of patriotic sprinkles mix.
Heat a plate or a flat-bottom bowl in the microwave until the surface of the plate is warm to the touch.
Press one of the empty chocolate bomb halves open-side-down onto the flat portion of the warm plate for about 10 seconds. This will gently melt the rim of the chocolate cup.
Immediately press this warmed edge chocolate cup to the top of one of the filled cups. This will join the two halves of the hot cocoa bomb.
Using the white and blue chocolate in the ziplock bags, drizzle chocolate over the cocoa bombs. Then, immediately top with the star sprinkles.
Place the hot cocoa bombs into the freezer for 5 minutes to get them to set, then remove and store in an airtight container until you’re ready to use.
How do you use the hot cocoa bomb?
Place one in a mug and pour a cup of hot milk over the top. Stir until the hot cocoa bomb are completely melted and enjoy!
