If you look around this blog, you might suspect that Halloween is my favorite holiday, and you’d be right! I love decorating for Halloween, and this Creepy Spider Egg Sac is perfect to decorate outside easily and for cheap!

This is a super cheap and easy DIY Halloween decoration for your yard! You can get just about all of it the dollar store.
The only supply I did not buy from the dollar store was the polyfil stuffing I had on hand. However, you could get something similar at the dollar store by doing one of two things:
- buy stuffed animals at the dollar store and rip them open for the polyfil.
- or just get 3-4 more bags of spider web to use as stuffing

What do you need to make the Creepy Spider Egg Sacs?

You’re going to need a few things:
- a pair of white tights
- a bunch of spider rings or tiny fake spiders
- 3-4 larger spiders
- 1 fake super stretchy spider web
- black or white balloons
You’ll also need some scissors and a glue gun.
How do you make a Creepy Spider Egg Sac for an Outdoor Halloween Decoration?
First, cut the legs of the tights. So one pair of tights can make two spider egg sacs.

Next, fill the balloon with water to about the size of a large orange and tie off.

Insert a handful of stuffing into the leg.
Then, insert the balloon into the leg and work the stuffing to come up around the balloon. This is why I think black balloons look the best because you’ll be able to see some mixture of white stuffing and black balloon inside to look like spiders are growing in the egg sac.
If you can’t find black balloons, white or possibly even gray will be fine.
Add some more stuffing on top of the balloon and work it around the sides so that there is a marbled look of white and black to look like lots of baby spiders inside. Add a bit more stuffing on top to give it more of an egg sac look.

Begin to hot glue spiders all around the sac to look like they are coming from under the sac. Glue more closely together towards the bottom and less as you go up the spider sac.

Try to vary the spider sizes as you add them. Mix the big and small so it looks like all sizes are coming out of the egg sac.

To attach the spider sacs, you can use push pins or adhesive hooks like 3M Command. I was able to just tie mine onto the light fixtures on either side of my garage.

Once the spider sac is hung, add more of the super stretchy spread spider web all around to add to the look.
Have fun!!

Love this idea and want to start making them now…. but it’s Christmas in July, LOL …. and I’m not having very good luck finding the plastic spiders ?? Is there a store that you know of that I can get the little creatures NOW ? I even tried the Oriental Trading Post , no luck : ( ………..please help, Thank You !!
I was in Hobby Lobby the other day and they were already putting out Fall and Christmas decorations, so they might have them. But I just checked and you can definitely order them online at Party City. I’m not sure if Party City stores have them in the stores yet.
