This Simple Mongolian Beef Stir Fry is one of my go-to weeknight dinners. My kids love it. With 3 steaks and some veggies feed a family of 6.
The best part about this meal is that you can literally change out the steak for chicken breasts and use your favorite veggies, or even a bag of frozen veggies. It’s so easy and one of the fastest meals I can whip together in 20 minutes.
While I’m stir frying the main dish, I have rice cooking in the microwave and egg rolls cooking in the air fryer. Dinner is literally on the table in 20 minutes!

Ingredients to make Mongolian Steak Bite Stir Fry
I use the same set of seasonings no matter the meat or veggies I’m using. You can literally switch the meat and veggies up for all kinds of stuff.
I usually serve this meal over a bed of steamed white rice. But, sometimes, I turn it into fried rice.
Seasoning
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice or white vinegar
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
Main Ingredients
- 3-4 cheap steaks (round, chuck, sirloin, etc.)
- 2 medium large zucchini (or 3 zucchini without mushrooms)
- 16 oz sliced mushrooms
How do you make Mongolian Steak Bite Stir Fry?
Cut the steak into bite-size pieces. Season them with a little salt and pepper.
If the veggies need cutting, cut them into slices. (If you’re using carrots, grate them on a cheese grater). Season the veggies with a little garlic and onion powder, if desired.
Heat up the skillet on HIGH with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1/2 tablespoon of sesame oil.
As soon as it’s ready, place the veggies in the skillet and let them sit for 1-2 minutes before flipping them over.
Add 1 tablespoon of garlic, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, and 1 tablespoon of brown sugar.
Then mix it all up. Continue to cook the veggies until they soften to what you like, probably for another 3-4 minutes.
Then, remove them from the pan and put into a casserole dish.
Add the rest of the oils and let the skillet heat up again, which won’t take long.
Add the steak to the skillet and let it sear on one side.
Then, flip the steak over and add the rest of the seasoning of garlic, brown sugar, lemon juice, and soy sauce.
Mix the seasoning into the steak.
The steak will get really juice and let that cook down just a bit.
When there is no more red or pink steak you can see, in about 2 minutes or so, remove it and add to the veggies.
Mix the veggies and steak up and serve over rice. Add sesame seeds if desired.
