It’s always nice when the weather warms up and we can get outside. But, here in tornado alley, it also means storms are aplenty. It was bright and sunny this morning, and now it’s going to rain the rest of the day. TV and movies can get boring pretty fast. On the few Saturdays we aren’t busy, I’ve got super fun things for my kids to do for rainy day activities.
Here’s a few fun things that you might just have on hand to make:
Here’s some fun things my kids love to do on rainy days like today:
PlayMais Fun To Learn Opposites Creative Arts and Crafts Building Box – These are like the biodegradable packing peanuts. I just get the kids a little dixie cup of water, and adding a little water lets you stick these together for such fun creations. You can mold them into all kinds of shapes.
My kids love to create pictures with stamps. This one is fun because it’s a fairy garden you can create. We love fairies.
Sewing is something near and dear to me, and my kids see me do it often. So, all three of them wanted to learn how to sew. This is a great kit to get started.
Art Dolls are so much fun to make. We’ve have made them for years over at my mom’s house. My daughter and I have made them into bookmarks and pins. I still have one of the pins. Art Dolls are such a great way to let your creativity fly.
Another fun activity we like to do is make bracelets with names or phrases. My girls will spend hours creating the perfect one for each other. You can even buy additional beads for even more fun HERE.
Play dough is another thing my kids enjoy. We especially love playing with extruder tools.
Model Magic clay is great for kids to make their own little sculptures. I love playing with this one, too.
Or how about the original tools from Play-Doh?
Beading and wire wrapping is such a fun project to create all kinds of things from bugs to dolls.
Is your kid into magic and entertaining? My brother is a magician and balloon artist, and there was nothing he loved more than learning new things to make with his balloon animals.
Crayola is my favorite brand for art supplies. I know I can trust they will be washable.
My youngest can spend hours playing with a kit like this.
I love how creative they can be with a jar full of fun!
My kindergartner loves foam activity kits. She spells words and creates all kinds of things.
We just got some of these glitter paints. I’ve been painting with it as much as my kids! The colors are bright, sparkly, and best of all, washable!
If your kids will be painting, this is my favorite paper for their art.
This is a personal favorite for all of us. We’ve made necklaces and keychains and so much more.
This one is so much fun, too. You can recycle books and magazines into jewelry. I want to make a bracelet from a Harry Potter book.
For older kids, needle felting is such a fun thing to learn to do.
My youngest loves helping me make headbands for her to wear. Now she can design her own!
There are so many tutorials on the web to create all kinds of loom bracelet ideas.
Learn to make Fabric Flowers easily.
Older kids will have a blast making these pompom animals.
Older kids will love making their very own blanket.
