Wouldn’t you love to try chocolate from the past? What did our ancestors eat for a little treat? Now you can eat a piece of history with American Heritage Chocolate.
American Heritage Chocolate Bites are individually wrapped and come in a keepsake muslin bag perfect for sharing. You can find them at your local Cracker Barrel® Old Country Store. You can experience chocolate like our ancestors did while supplies last!. But, hurry, this is for a very limited time!
American Heritage Chocolate Bites are straight from the past from recipes from the 18th century. They use a little bit of spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, orange, and red pepper. With just a touch of spiciness, you’ll love these rich chocolate treats. All American Heritage Chocolate products are made with all natural ingredients with no preservatives, and they are certified Kosher.
My 16-year-old daughter is a big chocolate lover, and she thought it was so cool that we could try chocolate from a recipe from the past. Both she and I could taste the spiciness to the chocolate. There was definitely a taste of cinnamon and a bit of orange. I could just imagine a flavor like this melted down into a hot chocolate drink — so decadent!
After tasting the American Heritage Chocolate Bites, I could not wait to incorporate them into a dessert or two. I decided an easy mug cake would be perfect. I could make individual mug cakes and then chop up one piece per mug and sprinkle it on the cake.
This is such an easy and tasty treat and takes less than 2 minutes. You can keep a premade bag of mug-ready “Double Cake Mix” in the pantry just when you need a single serving sweet treat like this. Here’s how to make it:
- 1 gallon-size zipper bag
- 1 box of angel food cake mix
- 1 box of any other cake mix (I use fudge chocolate cake mix)
Pour both cake mixes together in the ziplock bag, seal, and mix it up. Then, follow the recipe below!
