Your kids are going to love this gross out Halloween dessert! It’s Dirt Worm Cheesecake Brownies made with box mix brownies mixed with cheesecake. Then, when they’re done, you top them with crushed OREO cookies and gelatin worms. Totally gross, but totally delicious, too!
These brownies are somewhat intensive mainly because of the jello worms, but the gross out effect is so awesome for a Halloween party. Plus, they are cheesecake brownies, which obviously makes them taste amazing!

How do you make the Gelatin Worms?
First, pull out the bendy part of each straw to elongate it.
Then, place the straws with the bendy side down into the mason jar to get a tight fit.
Wrap a string or rubberband around the upper half of the straws.
Boil 3 cups of water.
Add the raspberry jello and mix until dissolved.
Add the plain gelatin and mix until dissolved.
Add the whipping cream and mix until completely combined.
Add 12-15 drops of green food coloring to get the “earthworm” look.
Pour the jello mixture into the straws until you’ve filled up the mason jar.
The straws will fill up about halfway, and that’s okay.
Put it in the fridge for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
I don’t release the gelatin worms until I’m ready to decorate the brownies. So, when you’re ready, get a bowl and remove the rubberband.
Take each straw individually and gently push the worms along the length of the straw to get the worm to fall out into the bowl.
Do this until all the worms are removed from the straws.
How do you make Dirt Worm Cheesecake Brownies?
Make the brownie mix according to the package.
Spray the 9 x 13 pan with non-stick oil spray.
Transfer the brownie batter to the pan.
Combine the cream cheese, vanilla, and powdered sugar and beat until smooth.
Drop spoonfuls into the brownie batter.
Use as knife to swirl the cheesecake mixture through the brownie batter.
Bake for about 35 minutes. When the center is no longer jiggly and the brownie part looks done, remove it from the oven to cool.
Cool the brownies completely before decorating. Once the brownies are cool, let’s decorate!
How to decorate the Dirt Worm Cheesecake Brownies
In my excitement, I forgot to take a picture of just the freshly baked cheesecake brownies, but they looked divine!
Spread the frosting over the entire brownies.
Use a blender or food processor to crush the OREO cookies until they are crumbs.
Sprinkle the crumbs over the entire brownie.
Take the gelatin worms and add them over the crushed cookies and frosting over all the brownies.
Serve and enjoy!
How do you store leftover worm brownies?
Keep them in a sealed container in the fridge for up to a week due to the cream cheese.
Can you make these ahead of time?
Yes, and I would recommend it.
You can make the jello worms up to 3-4 days ahead of time.
I would also recommend making the cheesecake brownies a day or so ahead of time and keeping them in the fridge until you’re ready to decorate them.
Can I substitute the jello worms for something else?
You can also just buy store bought gummy worms, but these jello worms are kinda awesome because they look like earth worms.
Powdered sugar or white sugar for the cheesecake batter?
If you don’t have any powdered sugar for the cheesecake batter, just use regular white sugar. It works fine.
Can I use something else besides cream cheese for these brownies?
You could switch out cream cheese for peanut butter and make it the same way with powdered sugar and vanilla.
