A couple days ago I was at Walmart and saw Blackberry Kool-Aid on the seasonal aisle. Blackberry Kool-Aid! It’s like they know what I love! I love blackberry flavored drinks. They are my favorites.
From reading the bottle, they are making limited batches of new flavors. Then, they are having a contest for you to pick a new Kool-Aid flavor from the batches. A giant jug of the special flavor was only 97 cents. So, I brought it home with plans to play with it a bit.
Well, first I had a glass of it, and it was yummy!
Do you love Sonic? I love Sonic, especially their drinks and most especially during Happy Hour when they are half price (though I do love the cheese sticks and onion rings, too). One of my favorite drinks is their cream slush. It’s like a slushie and a milkshake mixed together. You choose a slushie flavor like Cherry, Orange, Banana Taffy, etc., and then they mix it with ice cream into a milkshake. Blue Coconut is one of my faves, but so is Watermelon.
Unfortunately, the cream slush is not included for happy hour, and it can get rather expensive with a car full all getting cream slushes. After grabbing the Blackberry Kool-Aid, I had a plan to make my own version of the cream slush — Kool-Aid Cream Slush!
My teenager was out at the movies with friends, so I got out the blender for my two youngest to help mommy make yummy frozen treats. They were thrilled!

What do you need to make a Kool-Aid Cream Slush?
You’ll need to make a jug of Kool-Aid or buy premade Kool-Aid. Then, you’ll need to freeze it into ice cubes. One serving is about a cup of Kool-Aid frozen into ice cubes.
When I make my own pitcher of Kool-Aid, I end up with 3 1/2 cups worth of ice cubes.
You’ll also need half and half and cream.
How do you make a Kool-Aid Cream Slush?
I pulled out the Kool-Aid ice cubes I had frozen the day before along with some half and half and cream, and more Kool-Aid. With one ice cube tray we were able to make about 3 1/2 cups worth of cream slushes.
The kids and I loved making these! We love the Blackberry flavor. It’s super yummy. We are definitely going to try other Kool-Aid flavors. I’m thinking Grape Kool-Aid is probably next on the menu.
