They have quickly become one of my favorite places to buy kids clothes, and the basic clothing for our Halloween costumes. I have completely fallen in love with Primary.com with their bright solid colors. The quality is amazing. My girls love the clothes, too, especially my sensory sensitive 9 year old.
My oldest daughter is going to be a fox, so we ordered a t-shirt and leggings for her in an orange-y fox color.
What do you need to make a Peppa Pig Costume?
For Peppa Pig, we ordered a simple red dress and pale pink pajamas, and we also had to get yellow boots for jumping in muddy puddles.
Here are the clothes we bought to make Peppa Pig’s Halloween costume, and it’s perfect because your toddler can wear these clothes for more than just a costume. My toddler lives in her dresses from primary.com:
- Short Sleeve Cherry Red Dress
- Long Sleeve Petal Pink PJ Shirt
- Petal Pink PJ Pants
- Yellow Boots
- DIY Fleece Peppa Pig Hat
How do you make a fleece Peppa Pig Hat?
This hat will take you about an hour to put together from start to finish. It’s so simple to make, even if you’re a novice sewist, and it can be completely sewn on a sewing machine.
You can also make this hat for Peppa’s brother George Pig, though I would recommend using a dark pink thread for his smile. If I recall, his smile is more of a bruised purple and is not as pinky red as hers.
DIY Fleece Peppa Pig Hat
This tutorial will show you have to easily make a pig hat for Peppa Pig Costume for toddlers and kids in less than hour.
Materials
- 1/4 yd pink microfleece
- Scrap of white felt
- Scrap of black felt
- Scrap of light pink felt
- Pink thread
- White thread
- Black thread
- Red thread
- A paper towel
Instructions
Download the pattern and cut the pattern pieces out.
Cut the pieces out of the appropriate fabrics.
Use a 1/4 inch seam allowance.
Lay the face pieces onto the hat to decide placement.
Sew the black circles to the white eyes with a hand sewing needle.
Next, use a straight stitch with a length of 4 to sew around the edges of the whites of the eyes onto the front hat piece with the sewing machine.
Sew the nostrils to the snout with the hand sewing needle.
Then, sew the snout to the front hat piece with the sewing machine with the same stitch as the eyes.
Sew the cheek to the front hat piece with the sewing machine the same as the snout.
Sew the notch on the middle of each of the front and back pieces closed.
Fold each ear with right sides together and sew from the fold to about halfway across the bottom of the ear. Do this for both ears.
Then, lay each ear down with right sides together with the front hat piece. Make sure to line the edge of the ears up with the raw edge of hat piece. Then, lay the back hat piece with right side facing the inside.
Sew up each side of the hat. When sewing the ear side, be careful to catch the ears in the seam.
Pull the v-notch seams on the front and back hat pieces away from each other. This will bring the side seams together to the top of the hat and create a seam line for sewing closed the very top of the hat. Sew this seam closed.
Fold the bottom edge of the hat inward about 1 inch and hem the hat edge.
Lightly pencil draw the smile onto the hat.
Place a paper towel or stabilizer under the front piece of the hat where the smile will go.
Set the sewing machine to zigzag with a stitch wide of 2 and stitch length of 0.5.
Using red thread, quickly sew from one of the pencil drawn mouth to the other.
Now you're hat is done!
