What do you get when you mix a cursed wolf prince, a little Moonfire magic, and a cocktail with a bite? The Cursed Prince, a Blood Orange Gin Fizz inspired by my brand-new romantasy, A Bond Written in Fire.
This easy cocktail combines woodsy gin with blood orange ginger beer and a splash of lime for a drink that’s bright, spicy, and just a little dangerous. Which, coincidentally, is a pretty good description of Fenric, the cursed prince in this story.

A Cocktail Inspired by a Cursed Wolf Prince
A Bond Written in Fire is my newest fairytale retelling, but instead of retelling just one familiar story, I twisted together pieces of Beauty and the Beast, The Three Little Pigs, Rapunzel, Cinderella, and Little Red Riding Hood into one romantic fantasy.
At the center of the story is Lenora, or Nora, a boar shifter who has spent her life hidden away by her three fiercely protective brothers (aka The 3 Little Pigs).
And then there’s Fenric. He’s a prince. He’s a wolf shifter. And he was cursed by a Fae Queen. And according to Nora’s brothers, he’s exactly the sort of creature she should stay far, far away from.
Unfortunately for them, Fen knows something they don’t. Nora is his fated mate.
Their story unfolds amid curses, secrets, an unwanted betrothal, a magical Moonfire Festival, and a goddess with secrets of her own. It’s a story about falling in love, but even more than that, it’s about having the freedom to choose the life and love you want.
So, obviously, the cursed wolf prince needed his own cocktail.
Ingredients for The Cursed Prince cocktail
- 1½ oz gin
- 4–5 oz blood orange ginger beer
- ½ oz fresh lime juice
- Ice
- Blood orange slice for garnish, optional
How to make this fairytale drink
Fill a glass with ice.
In a shaker, add the gin and fresh lime juice, then top with blood orange ginger beer. Give it a little shake, and pour over the ice.
Then garnish with orange slices (or blood orange slices).
That’s it!
Three ingredients, no complicated syrups, no cauldron required.
Why Blood Orange and Gin?
I wanted each part of this drink to feel a little like Fenric. Blood orange for the curse. Juniper for the forest. Ginger for the bite.
The gin brings those woodsy, botanical notes that feel right at home in Fen’s fairytale world. Blood orange gives the cocktail a gorgeous, slightly dark citrus flavor, while ginger beer adds just enough heat and bite.
The result is sweet, wild, and a little dangerous. Because a cursed wolf prince should always have a little bite.
Meet Fenric in A Bond Written in Fire
If you like fated mates, wolf shifters, fairytale retellings, protective heroes, family secrets, forced proximity, curses, magical festivals, and happily-ever-afters, A Bond Written in Fire might be your next read.
Nora has been warned about wolves her entire life. Fenric has been waiting for the woman fate promised him. And when their worlds finally collide, they may discover that the stories they’ve been told aren’t necessarily the truth.
So pour yourself a Cursed Prince, settle somewhere cozy, and step into a fairytale where the wolf might not be the villain after all. After all, a cursed wolf is better than Prince Charming.

When emotionally guarded Wren inherits her eccentric aunt’s cottage on the edge of a forgotten forest, she expects dust, cobwebs, and maybe a few bad memories—not a living, breathing myth. There, among the tangled trees and whispered magic, she meets Ash—a smirking, sharp-tongued satyr and the last of his kind. As the forest stirs with old secrets and ancient longing, Wren finds herself drawn to the magic—and to the immortal trickster who might just be her undoing. Where the Wild Things Want You is a steamy, spell-soaked romantasy novella perfect for fans of slow-burn magic, prickly hearts, and love that grows like ivy through the cracks.
