Summer time is usually when we have family and friends visit. I like to serve a meal, and one of my favorite ways to do this is with a buffet. It makes things so much easier. Sometimes everything is cooked and ready to serve. Other times I have a “build your own” buffet. One of the easiest meals for build your own is pizza using pita bread.
Cheeseburger Pizzas are a favorite theme as I almost always have most of the ingredients on hand. We can grill them outside on the grill, so we don’t heat up the house. Everyone can make their pizza just like they want.

French’s® Dipping Sauces
I love dipping my pizza, so I like to have dipping sauces available for everyone to choose for their pizzas like the new French’s® Dipping Sauces. They’re all mustard-based with no artificial colors and no high fructose corn syrup, so you get bold flavors without the bad stuff! Check out these flavors:
- Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce – made with real honey
- Sweet & Smoky BBQ Dipping Sauce
- Sweet Buffalo Dipping Sauce – made with Frank’s® RedHot
They’re perfect for dipping so many things from pizza to fresh veggies to wings and more.
You can find them in the condiment aisle at HEB. I just love HEB for grocery shopping. They always have such a huge and diverse selection of products, and I love their coupons! Build Your Own Cheeseburger Pizza
I set out a variety of things to make cheeseburger pizzas. Your guests can make their pizza however they want from a full cheeseburger pizza with lettuce, pickles, and ketchup to just a cheese pizza. Here are the ingredients I like to include in my buffet:
- pita bread
- crushed tomatoes (pizza sauce)
- cheddar and mozzarella cheeses
- crumbled precooked hamburger
- sliced onions
- diced tomatoes
- lettuce
- sliced hamburger dill pickles
- French’s® Dipping Sauces (for dipping after cooking!)
We start with layers of pizza sauce, cheese, and crumbled hamburger. Some people prefer to put the onion and diced tomato on before cooking and some like to do it after the pizza is done.
I find the sweet spot for grilling individual pizzas is about 7-8 minutes. We cook three at a time. When the cheese is bubbly, take them off the grill and immediately add any additional toppings.
If you want a real cheeseburger pizza the best toppings to add are lettuce, pickles, and a little ketchup to finish it off. My teenager loves this meal and says it’s like eating a burger on flat bread.
