This DIY ACOTAR Light Up Velaris Cloche centerpiece is my absolute favorite thing I made for this party. I grabbed some Dollar Tree cloches, and this was exactly what I imagined I could do with them. I was just so pleased that it came out exactly as I imagined it.
We’ve got tons of recipes and printables for this ACOTAR party, but you have to make these cloches for your party. You can even have these as a craft to make during the party as a take-home gift for guests. It’s very simple to make.

How do you make this ACOTAR Light Up Velaris Cloche?
Shrinky Dink Velaris
After much trial and error, I do not recommend printing an image of Velaris on the shrinky dink plastic. It never dries, even in the oven and shrinking, the ink stays wet and smudges terribly. This is why I used a sharpie and just drew it myself.
The Dollar Tree Cloche is about 4 inches wide, and the Shrinky Dink brand plastic is about 8.5 x 11. The plastic will shrink down to 1/3rd the size, which is why I drew a mountain about 6 3/4 inches wide x 7 inches tall. It shrunk down to a little less than 3 inches.
Draw a set of mountains and add three stars above them.
Cut out around the moutain and stars.
Set the toaster oven to 325 F degrees.
Place the cut out on parchment paper on a cookie sheet.
Bake for 1-3 minutes, watching the whole time.
When the shrink plastic is done, gently take the pan out, place another piece of parchment paper over the shrink plastic and press down flat with a spatula.
Once it’s cool, remove the shrink plastic from the pan.
Fairy Lights
I wanted to add fairy lights at the top of the cloche to simulate the night sky in the Night Court.
Remove the cloche lid and set aside.
Conveniently, there is a hole in the center of the bottom part of the cloche. Thread the fairy lights through that tiny hole in the cloche.
Once they have been pulled completely through, attach the battery pack of the fairy lights to the very bottom of the cloche with double-sided tape or hot glue.
Making Velaris
I decided to add the metallic diamond-shaped vase filler around Velaris to, so that when the fairy lights were turned on, it would reflect brilliantly around the mountain image.
Along the bottom edge of the shrinky dink Velaris, add a bead of hot glue.
Press that bottom edge into the center of the cloche, making sure to avoid the string of lights coming through teh hole. Hold the shrinky dink with one hand as the glue hardens.
Add beads of hot glue close and up to the shrinky dink and press vase filler into the hot glue. Do this on both sides of the shrinky dink until it stands up by itself.
Continue adding beads of hot glue and vase filler, until you have the middle of the bottom of the cloche filled up. I used almost an entire vase filler for the bottom of each cloche.
MAKE SURE TO LEAVE A 1/4 INCH AROUND THE EDGE OF THE CLOCHE. SO YOU CAN POP THE LID BACK ON. If you get too close to the edge with hot glue and vase filler, the lid will not snap back on. (If this happens, it’s not the end of the world. You can seal the edge with hot glue and glue the top of the cloche on once you’ve finished everything.)
Making the Stars
In addition to the three stars depicted above Velaris, I wanted to create the stars in the sky at the top of the cloche.
Take the glue dots, pull one off at a time, rip it in half and roll each half with your fingers to make a tiny glue dot ball.
Press that ball into the very top of the dome of the cloche. Do this several times, 10-15 times.
Find the little nubs on the fairy lights, which are the actual lights and press each one into one of the sticky glue dot balls. If you need to add more glue dot balls to press more lights into the top of the dome, go ahead. This creates a starry sky for Velaris.
When you’re done, press the lid of the cloche into the base to close it. (If your vase filler got too close, and it won’t close, just add a bead of hot glue around the bottom edge of the lid and press it firmly down.)
Set the cloche on the party table.
Flip the fairy lights on and dim the lights to see Velaris.
