How do you make a Hidden Rainbow in a Chocolate Bundt Cake?
First, you’ll make each cake mix according to the package.
Set the chocolate cake batter aside for now.
Take the white cake mix and divide it into six small bowls.
Add a different gel food coloring to each bowl. I used:
- red
- orange
- yellow
- green
- blue
- purple
Make sure to spray the bundt cake pan with nonstick spray or rub butter all over the sides and inside.
Add about a third of the chocolate cake batter to the bundt pan.
Now start with either red or purple and go in order of the rainbow colors and add about half of each colored batter in a circle around the middle of the bundt pan.
Once you have added all the colored batters, cover everything with the chocolate batter and fill the bundt pan about 1/2 to 2/3rds full.
You will have extra batter left of the rainbow colors and the chocolate batter. I was able to make 6 rainbow cupcakes with a chocolate base with the leftovers.
Bake at 350F degrees for 50-60 minutes, until knife comes out clean.
Allow the bundt cake to cool for about 10-15 minutes and then place a platter or plate over the top and flip it. It should easily slip out.
Allow it to cool for another 30 minutes before adding frosting.
Heat a can of chocolate frosting in the microwave, stir it up and pour over the top of the cake. I found the 1/2 size cans they sell at the Dollar Tree are the perfect amount for this cake.
