Have you attended a virtual happy hour with friends? Or, have your kids hung out with friends over Zoom? When we have any kind of virtual video meeting, I like to have a little plan for fun like hosting Virtual Scavenger Hunts.
Have you done a virtual scavenger hunt before? They are a lot of fun!
They’re perfect to do as a whole family playing together, a couple, or a single player. These are great for a Zoom meeting for anyone. My husband has even done virtual scavenger hunts in his weekly work Zoom meeting, since he’s working from home now.

How to play a Virtual Scavenger Hunt?
There are a couple of ways you can play a virtual scavenger hunt. I would recommend 3 or more players as the more players, the better the game.
You will host a conference call style video like Zoom, Skype, Google Hangout and others, so everyone can play together. You can do this on a laptop, desktop, phone, or tablet.
Version #1
With this version of the virtual scavenger hunt, you will have a host for the game. This person will be the only person who can see the game sheet with the list of items. They will also be the person who keeps track of points for each player.
They will share the theme of the game like “Kids Room” or “What’s in the Kitchen” with the players, but that is all.
Then, they will read off an item and give a time limit such as 60 seconds for people to bring back the item to show on screen. If a player returns after the time limit given, even if they have the item, their points for that item will be forfeited.
The player with the most points wins the game.
Version #2
With this version of the virtual scavenger hunt, everyone will play the game, including the host. The host will decide ahead of time which scavenger hunt everyone will do together.
Each person will get the scavenger hunt sheet, and each person will keep track of their own points on their game sheet.
A time limit will be decided by the host, such as 15 minutes, and you must bring as many items back to the screen as you can in that time. The host will call off items down the list, such as “takeout boxes,” and everyone hold theirs up at the same time on the screen.
If a player returns after the time limit given, even if they have the items, their points will be forfeited.
The player with the most points wins the game.
