What do you need to make Moon Rock Cookie Dough Bites?
You’ll need some edible cookie dough. I found Nestles Funfetti Cookie Dough at Walmart and used it.
You’ll also need three colors of candy melts:
You can vary the pink and turquoise to other colors, but you’ll definitely want black when making Moon Rock Cookie Dough Bites.
You’ll also need some galaxy-themed sprinkles and gold or silver sanding sugar to decorate your edible moon rocks.
How do you make Moon Rock Cookie Dough Bites?
Cover a cookie sheet with wax paper.
Use a medium or small ice cream scoop to make cookie dough balls and place them on the wax paper. After scooping, I roll them in my hands to make a nice ball.
One container of the Funfetti edible cookie dough made us 10 medium-sized balls. They were pretty big for cookie dough bites, so I’d recommend using the smallest size scoop.
Place the cookie sheet in the freezer for 30 minutes.
While the cookie dough is getting cold, melt the candy melts in microwave-safe bowls.
For the black candy melts, melt the entire 10 oz package. You want it to be fairly runny. If it seems to thick, I love using these Candy Melts Ez Thins to thin it out. They melt quickly and smoothly and make candy melts so smooth and nice.
I like to melt the candy melts in 30 second increments, stirring each time, until the candy melts are smooth and completely melted. This usually takes me about 2-3 minutes in the microwave.
For the pink and turquoise candy melts, melt about 1/2 cup of each in separate microwave-safe bowls. Add the Candy Melts Ez Thins as needed. You want these also fairly runny, too.
Get everything ready and within reach because you’ll need to work fast.
Take the cookie dough balls out of the freezer. Lay an additional sheet of wax paper down on the counter and have all the candy melt bowls next to each other.
Have a bowl of the galaxy sprinkles and a bowl of the silver sanding sugar right next to the candy melt bowls.
Use two forks and dip the cookie dough ball directly into the black candy melts until it’s completely covered.
Gently use the fork to lift it up. Take a small spoonful of pink and a small spoonful of turquoise candy melts and drizzle over the top of cookie dough ball.
Gently use the fork to tap the excess of all the candy melts on the side of the black candy melts bowl. (It’s ok when pink and turquoise candy melts go into the bowl.)
Quickly set it on the wax paper and add a pinch of galaxy sprinkles and a pinch of sanding sugar.
Continue doing this same thing to each cookie dough ball until they are all covered in candy melts.
Allow them to cool and harden for about 30 minutes before removing from the wax paper.
Store in a sealed container in the fridge for 4-5 days.
