Supplies to make the Glow in the Dark Ghost Wand
You do not have to use glow in the dark yarn. You can chose regular yarn, but I thought glow in the dark yarn would make this a totally fun project, especially if you wanted to carry it with you during trick or treating.
- Glow in the Dark Yarn
- 12-inch long 1/4 inch Dowel Rod
- Black Foam Sheet
- Thin Halloween-colored ribbon scraps
Tools for making the Ghost Wand
- Glue gun and glue sticks
- hole punch
- scissors
- a book
How do you make Glow in the Dark Ghost Wand?
First, cut a 7-8 inch piece of yarn and tape it to the spine of the book.
Then, begin wrapping the rest of the yarn around the book about 100 times.
Cut one end of the wrapped yarn.
Remove the tape from the single piece of yarn and tie it around the yarn for the very top of the ghost head.
Then, from the leftover yarn, cut another piece and tie it to form a head for the yarn.
Check the body and trim the pieces if they aren’t all pretty close to the same length.
Cover about 1 inch of the top of the dowel rod with hot glue. Part the ghost body in half and shove the dowel rod up through to the head.
Tie a ribbon or two of scraps around the neck.
Punch two holes in the black foam sheet. Save those two black dots.
Add a dab of hot glue to each black dot and place them to form the face of the ghost.
Now your ghost wand is completely ready. But, you’ll need to charge it by setting it in some light.
I like to put our ghost wands on the front porch or flower bed bricks to charge in the sunlight. You can also just put them under a bright l amp inside. But, I find the sun charges them the best to glow very brightly.
