I love advent calendars because it’s the perfect way for the kids to see how many days are left until Christmas!

How do you make this Dollar Store Advent Calendar?
This is incredibly easy to make. I put everything together in about 30 minutes. Then, I got one of our small Christmas trees and decorated it just with these. The kids are very excited.
I originally wanted number stickers, but they didn’t have any at my Dollar Tree. However, they had these cool transfers with all kinds of number shapes and fonts. So, I went with that.
I LOVE these transfers. They are very easy. You don’t need to rub very hard, I just rub over it with my finger and it easily was transferred as I pulled off the plastic. You’ll need numbers 1 through 24.
I found I needed 5 packages to get all the numbers 1 -24. However, I bought 6 because I’m an idiot, and ended up putting the same number a couple times on some of them.
After that, I added baker’s twine in red to each one.
Then, I filled each one with trinkets and Christmas candy. Make sure they are small enough to fit in these containers. I found that the regular size Reese’s Peanut Butter Christmas trees were too big to fit. Things I found that worked were:
- Hershey Kisses
- Lindt chocolate bears
- Treat size packages of Gummy Bears
- 1 bag of gold coins (chocolates)
- Reese’s Nutcracker peanut butter cups
Now it’s time to attach all them to the tree. You can hang them in order, or we decided to hang them randomly so the kids have to search for it.
Beginning December 1st, have your child (or you) find the advent ornament that coincides with the date of the month, each day until December 24th!
