How do you like to gift back during the holiday season? While we try to give back throughout the year, it always seems that there are more opportunities during the holidays.
I grew up always volunteering and giving back, and I think it’s also important to help my kids find ways to give back with donating not just things, but our time as well. Here’s a few we like to do:
- Donate to a food pantry.
- Donate gifts to various organizations for toy programs for the holidays.
- Volunteer.
This holiday season we were able to do quite a few things. As a family, we recently attended a fundraising dinner for a local teacher who lost her son in the Oakland fire, and we were able to donate towards helping her with expenses. A lot of what we do is volunteering.
My husband and oldest child spent all last weekend at the Dallas zoo getting pledges for the gorillas. This one was about getting people to make changes in their lives for the environment instead of donations. They got to work inside the gorilla exhibit talking to people about making good choices for a better environment.
She also helped run a food drive at her school for the local food pantry. We brought up three big boxes of food ourselves to donate for the cause.
My middle child recently helped clean up a lower income high school. They built picnic tables and spruced up the whole school.
There are so many ways to give back during the holiday season. One easy way is with Johnson & Johnson’s free Donate a Photo app. For every photo shared through the app, Johnson & Johnson donates $1 to one of it’s trusted non-profit partners, which you can choose!
You can donate one photo every day. Plus, you can easily share to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to spread the word and inspire others to donate, too. Download the app and learn more.
Another easy way to donate and check someone off your holiday list is with the Save the Children “Gifts of Joy” holiday catalog. Save the Children is a long time global partner with Johnson & Johnson and their products have been available through Save the Children’s emergency programs to support needs for families. Learn more about their partnership.
When you purchase a gift from the Save the Children “Gifts of Joy” holiday catalog, Johnson & Johnson will match each donation (up to $450,000). Head over for some shopping now!
How do you like to give back during the holiday season?
Johnson & Johnson has curated a list of trusted causes, and you can donate a photo to one cause, once a day. Each cause will appear in the app until it reaches its goal, or the donation period ends. If the goal isn’t reached, the cause will still get a minimum donation.

I would love to check out this catalog. It sounds like a wonderful way to give back!
Giving back is so important and I love to support companies that give back to the community. We supply toiletries to our local Hospice and food for a local food bank. We also help support an orphanage. I think we should always help those going through difficult times.
This isn’t a fun way to give back. We’ve done a coat drive and I give back to charity while Christmas shopping.
We support United Way through my job. Do bake sales and raffles that allow us to give back to the community. It’s good to give if you can throughout the year.
This Christmas, my family and I will donate clothes to the needy. We’re also going to volunteer in a feeding program for the homeless. I love this partnership you’ve discussed in this post. Johnson and Johnson’s is a trusted brand and I am happy that they support the Save the Children campaign. I will check the catalog and see how we can help children more.
Good for you for getting your kids involved with charitable work. We helped deliver food for the local food pantry yesterday. I love the Save the Children Gifts of Joy catalog. What an easy way to give back.
Giving back has always been important to me and my family. These are some great suggestions. I try to put a lot of thought into where I might be able to make the most of a difference.
Giving is one of the best ways to get you in the Christmas spirit. This are awesome ways that people of all ages can make a difference for those in need.
I absolutely love this. The holiday season is the perfect time to get back to giving and helping others. Brilliant that you got your whole family involved on this. I also love the Johnson’s collaboration with Save The Children campaign. Bravo!
Giving is definitely the reason for the season. It is great that Johnson and Johnson is doing this. I love when companies give back, it makes me more likely to shop with them.
I love giving back during the holiday season. This is a great list of ways to give back. Thanks!
There are so many ways to give back during the holidays and all year long. We have been volunteering for the past month with different groups to help those affected by the wildfires. It is truly an honor to volunteer and give back.
What a cool way to give back, it’s super important to think of others at this time of year as there are so many people out there who aren’t as fortunate as we are.
I love that there is so many ways to give back this time of year. I have done a lot this year and feel great about it.
These are such great ways to give back and it is important that we do give back. I get the grand kids involved with picking out food for a food pantry or food drive.
