My husband and I try to go out about once a month on a date night, and it ends up being dinner and movie or maybe to the casino that’s about an hour away. Â Recently, we went on one of the best date nights we’ve had in a long time. Â We attended a paint and sip night at Pinot’s Palette.
My husband is a HUGE Harry Potter fan and a big fan of Vincent Van Gogh.  We have a reproduction of one of his paintings in our bedroom.  When I saw one of the choices was to paint Starry, Starry Night with a wizard castle in it, I knew that was the  paint night for us.  It turned out even better than expected because it was Harry Potter themed night complete with trivia contests.  It was so much fun!  We ended up winning a round with a free drink from the bar.  Overall we came in 4th place.  The top 3 teams for the night got gift certificates for Pinot’s Palette.
They recommended arriving 30 minutes prior to the start time. Â We were the first ones to arrive while they were still setting up all the supplies, so they had us sit right at the front row. Â We had never gone to a paint night before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect or how many people would attend. Â There were more than 40 people! I definitely recommend getting there early. Â Some people showed up 30 minutes after it started, but they were able to catch up pretty quickly as there are breaks set into the painting time to allow for drying.
There is a painting demonstrator who goes slowly and step by step to show you exactly what to do. Â She came around and gave tips to help you if you’re having difficulty understanding how to paint something. Â There are also a few assistants who are ready to bring extra paint whenever you need it. Â There were even a few people who worked ahead and just made their own thing, but most of us stuck with the planned painting for the night.
Some Pinot’s Palette locations have a bar, but they are all BYOB and BYOF.  They provide the glasses, and we brought drinks. Nonalcoholic cider for the pregnant me, and my husband brought supplies to make his own gin and tonics.  He did get a bit tipsy, which made him a bit giggly and his painting a bit free and fun.
I was a little nervous about bringing food with us, since in the pictures on the website I just saw people with drinks. However, while we were there, people brought entire meals and pizzas. Â While we ate dinner before we went, next time we plan to bring a pizza or some take out. Â Because with a 3-hour painting time, you do get a little hungry.
There will definitely be a next time! Â We had so much fun at Pinot’s Palette and cannot wait to go back again! Â It was a great way to disconnect from busy schedules and phones and reconnect with each other. Â Next time, we plan to choose a paint night that let’s you complete a complementary pair of paintings that fit together side by side.
If you’re looking for a date night idea to have a great time and disconnect from social media and reconnect with your significant other, check out your local Pinot’s Palette. Â You are going to love it!

This is a great idea for a date night, and it looks like the place you went to has a really good setup. I’ve done a couple of these in the past, but haven’t ever gone back to the same place twice. This definitely looks like a place to come back to for different paintings.
What an absolutely fab idea for a date night – so unique! I’d love to do something like this with my other half and you guys did a great job with your paintings!
So fun! I love paint nights. My husband and I have done a few, but my favorite was one in NYC that my brother in law taught.
That looks like so much fun! This sure does beat my traditional dinner and a movie date night. I attended a paint night event this past Christmas for Girls Night Out and really enjoyed it.
I know a girl that goes to these for a girls night out. I’m not “artsy” at all but it looks like a lot of fun and I’d love to go.
This looks like a ton of fun and the pictures you made were amazing. My wife and I tried a similar place and I have to say that the teachers really know how to walk you through the steps to make even the least art-inclined an artist for the night!
Great paintings! There are so many of these painting nights going on now, I’m going to have to go! It looks like you had a great time.
My son and his husband have done several of these classes with different friends and the painting look great in their home. It is becoming more popular around here where I live as well.
Looks like an awesome activity we adults can participate in. My husband is very fond of admiring paintings of famous artists so I think he will love these books.

Bonding doing artwork is a great date. You get to do something productive and you get to harness your creativity.
We have a Painting with a Twist around me. They occasionally do it at the wine cellar by me. It wouldn’t be a date night, but I’ve been wanting to try it!
So hang on, you get to go painting and drink wine at the same time. I loving this idea and don’t remember seeing anything like this in the UK. I hope there is, I might give this a try đŸ˜€
This is a great date night option. I think the Misterband I would have a lot of fun. I like that you could see what the drawing was in advance.
This looks like so much fun! I’ll definitely have to see if there’s a Pinot’s Palette near me. I’ve always wanted to try out one of these BYOB paint classes!
That was a beautiful date night. I love sip and paint. What a cool idea. And at a great place to be at that. I love it.
I have been to a couple of these! They are called Paint Nites! They are so much fun!
We did something similar when we were in Orlando a few years back. It was a lot of fun and my husband and I enjoyed it. Glad you enjoyed it!
Lucky girl. Not sure if my husband would be interested but I would love to do this one day. It seems like it would be relaxing and fun.
