Have you tried the slow cooker mulled apple cider I shared a couple weeks ago? It’s one of my favorite things to drink on a crisp fall night. It’s actually dropping to the 50s here in Texas, and it’s only September! This makes me wonder if we might get more of a Fall and Winter than usual down here.
Whenever I make a batch of apple cider, I never really was sure what to do with the leftovers. I hated to throw them away, but I wasn’t too keen on reheating them as more apple cider. So, I’d save it, and then it’s just sit in the fridge for days until I finally gave up and threw it away.
After the last batch, I poured the leftovers into a mason jar and put it in the fridge for a couple days. Then, I decided to use it in milkshakes with some vanilla ice cream for a late night treat for the kids. It also goes really well with chocolate caramel cupcakes.
Let me tell y’all, this apple cider shake is seriously good. It tastes like you’re drinking apple pie a la mode. The kids loved it. Everyone devoured their shake, and then asked for more.
I’m thinking this would be perfect for a Fall party. Next time I make some apple cider, I’m definitely saving a little bit for one of these again. I think this has become one of my favorite fall treats.Print
- 1/2 cup mulled apple cider
- 1/4 cup milk or cream
- 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream
- whipped cream
- dash of cinnamon
- Combine apple cider, cream, and ice creamed.
- Blend with a blender for a minute until well combine.
- Pour into a glass and then top with whipped cream and a dash of cinnamon.
