Probably my favorite thing about Fall (besides the drop in temperature) is hot drinks like this Slow Cooker Mulled Apple Cider.
But, what do you do when you have leftover mulled cider with the little bits of lemon and orange and spices in it? You make yourself a deliciously creamy Apple Cider Shake!
Whenever I make a batch of mulled apple cider, I am never really sure what to do with the leftovers. I hate to throw them away, but I don’t think it’s best to save them to reheat another day. So, I’ll save about a cup of it and in a day or two, I make Apple Cider Shakes.
How do you save mulled apple cider?
After the most recent batch, I poured the leftovers into a mason jar, sealed it up, and put it in the fridge for a couple days. If it sits any longer than 1-2 days, I typically throw it out. While it’s still good, I make apple cider milkshakes, use it in desserts, and even use it in my Whipped Apple Cocktail.
How do you make an Apple Cider Shake?
I break out the blender and use up those leftovers in some amazingly delicious Apple Cider Milkshakes for the whole family.
It’s the perfect weeknight after dinner treat. I add it to vanilla ice cream, add a pinch of apple pie spice, and let me tell y’all — these have become a fast favorite in this house. An apple cider shake is seriously good. The kids always beg for another one.
When you drink one of these, it tastes like you’re drinking apple pie a la mode.
If you don’t have apple pie spice on hand, you can totally leave it out, and it still tastes delicious. It just adds a little kick to the flavor.

This looks so tasty. I love all the flavors of Fall.
I especially love this idea because it’s as hot and humid as ever here in Florida and a nice, COOL Fall treat sounds amazing!
This looks AMAZING!! I LOVE apple flavored stuff!!!
I’ve always liked an apple pie shake, where you just blend a piece of apple pie with vanilla ice cream, but I think I have a new fave, your apple cider shake! It looks delicious!
I’ve never known what to do with that leftover cider, either, and it would end up eventually getting thrown out. This is a great idea!
PS – We’re having much cooler weather here in SC than normal. It was actually chilly the first day of fall. That’s a first! 🙂
Oh my goodness you had me at apple cider! This sounds so good!!
