A few weeks ago I had mentioned we were going to try for baby #4. I’ve always felt that four little additions to our family was a good fit. We space our kids out every 4-5 years, so now with our youngest just turning 5, it’s the right time. I’m still in my 30s, and I’ve been feeling that babylust for awhile.
It’s funny, every time I feel that itch to add another little one to our family, I start thinking we’re missing someone. When we are out and I do a headcount to make sure everyone is here for a split second I think, “Wait! Where’s the other one?” Then, I realize, there’s no one missing.
As soon as we get back from our family vacation this summer, Nate and I are putting our TTC (trying to conceive) plans in overdrive. When I prepare for a pregnancy, there are a few things I do. With each kid, I’ve been lucky to be able to get pregnant on the first or second cycle. Here are a few of my tips for getting pregnant faster:
- Four to six months before TTC, I make sure I keep up with exercising at least 3 times a week. About a month before TTC, I switch over to going for walks.
- I start taking prenatal vitamins as well as a B complex about 2 cycles before actively trying to conceive.
- Nate starts wearing loose boxers instead of boxer briefs.
- I start charting ovulation with ovulation prediction kits (OPK) for a cycle before the official TTC cycle and continue all the way into the TTC cycle.
- Along with the OPK, I track my cervical mucus. When I know ovulation is getting close, I just check a couple times a day when I go to the bathroom and wipe. When ovulation is about to occur, it is supposed to be like a raw egg white consistency, where it stretches and is basically slimy. You can see this on the toilet paper, or you can check with your fingers. This stretchy mucus is conducive to getting the sperm where they need to go.
I don’t always have this cervical mucus at ovulation because I practice extended breastfeeding with my children. They wean between 3-5 years old, and this is when we start trying for the next baby.
To combat this problem, I like to use Astroglide TTC Trying to Conceive™ . It’s specially formulated for couples who are trying to conceive because it supports fertility with adjusted pH levels and it has a similar consistency to your body’s cervical mucus. It’s less likely to slow down sperm motility more than traditional lubricants. It also contains galactose, found naturally in semen, and fructose, which the main source of energy for sperm.
Each package contains 8 pre-filled disposable applicators so it’s less messy and you can easily coat the inside of the vagina to supplement help along the natural lubricants and sperm motility. With a retail value of $12.99, it’s the best value compared to others.
I’ll be following up in the next couple months with some updates on how we’re doing. Hopefully, I’ll have an exciting announcement before the end of summer!
Astroglide TTC also temporarily relieves vaginal dryness during sexual activity. For more information regarding Astroglide TTC™, fertility support, and where to buy click HERE.
