Are you a mom on the go? With three kids, I feel like I’m always on the go. Each kid goes to a different school. Plus, we’ve got lessons and meetings and so much going on. My oldest just got her first job as a lifeguard, and she doesn’t drive yet. This means, I’m now driving her to work as well. Because I’m in the car so much, I like to keep a little “Mom Car Kit” full of things that both kids and I might need.
I just recently ran out of gum for my car kit, so when I was grocery shopping at Walmart the other day, I picked up two of the new Extra® 35-stick packs right at the checkout line. I love that these packs come with 35 sticks because I can “Give Extra, Get Extra.” This means I don’t run out of gum when everyone in the car wants a piece.
As a crafter, I love the packaging my Extra® Gum Polar Ice® comes in. Not only is it durable, but it’s also recyclable. You might see a new crafty DIY from these cases once I’ve used up all the gum.
It’s easy to make your own Mom-on-the-Go car kit. You just need a makeup bag you’re not using and a few supplies. I’m sure you’re wondering what I like to keep in my car kit.
Here’s what I like to include:
- a couple granola bars – for a quick snack.
- water enhancer drops – add a little flavor to our water bottles.
- lip balm – for dry lips or to make me a little presentable when I’m not wearing makeup.
- Extra® Gum Spearmint – you never know when you’ll need fresh breath!
- portable phone charger – as a busy blogger my phone is always needing a charge.
- quarters – you have no idea how many times these have saved me from pumping air into the tires to giving one of my kids quarters to grab a drink.
Then, I just keep my little bag under the seat of the car. It’s out of the way and easy to reach when we need something.
What would you include in your Mom-on-the-go car kit? How do you like to “Give Extra, Get Extra?”

This is a brilliant idea! I keep many of these things on hand in my car, too!
Having a mom on the go car kit is a must. I also make sure there are gums and candies in my kit.
I love this idea. These are all items that I need when driving.
What a smart idea! I can’t tell you how many times I’m driving from place to place and end up stopping for food because I don’t have anything to snack, or at least chew on. #client
This is so great! Im not a mom yet but as a woman i have to be prepare for everything! So I keep many of these things in my purse!
Super smart idea! I need one of these with me at all times! Especially whenI usually forget things!
I always make sure to have a few bandaids and sanitizer.
Excellent ideas, haha loved the gum packs “don’t run out of gum when everyone in the car wants a piece.” hahah that is so true, i always keep a bag of fun size snickers in case my family gets hungry on the go.
i love the idea of a car kit! i like to keep gum in my car so that my breath can always be fresh
Love your essentials, they are definitely useful. I also make sure I have wipes or a small bottle of alcohol because the kids love making a mess in the car and that’s just so not fun. Lol.
You just reminded me I need to stock up on gum and I love Extra too. A great on the go car kit!
Keeping a small “kit” in the car is brilliant. I’m always reaching for the majority of the same things in my bottomless pit or searching through cubbies in the car. I’m going to put together a small bag like this for myself!
I always have in my purse and it my dresser an on-the-go mom kit and my essentials are very useful. I think we have that brand of gum here in the Philippines, sold in duty free shops. 🙂
I always make sure to have some gum when I’m out and about! I don’t have a car but I keep mine in the diaper bag lol
Wet wipes and gum are in mine. And lipstick, gotta have that for when I’m going in somewhere or I look all washed out.
Great idea! I can totally see how all of these need to be in the kit. You’re ready to take on everything the day throws at you!
This is a great idea! Thank you for sharing. I love Extra gum 🙂
My teen son has that gum that helps him keep waking up while driving in a little far away every morning before going to school. Thanks for sharing.
Omg I never thought of having a kit!!! This is definitely something I need to make!
We’ve had one of this before when my son was a little boy. It always pays to be really prepared.
Yup! I see a few of the things I keep in my kit too!
We don’t use chewing gum, but love the idea of the mum-on-the-go car kit.
