Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays. I love making special things, especially for my husband for Valentine’s. I’ve made all kinds of food, drink, and my piece de resistance was last year when I made a romantic treasure hunt just for him! He told me it was the best gift he had ever received. This year I might just bring him breakfast in bed with a tasty Lascivious Love Potion cocktail.
This year Valentine’s Day is on a Saturday. What better way to wake up your sweetie than with a Valentine themed cocktail and breakfast in bed? Pair this Lascivious Love Potion perfectly with something delicious like dark chocolate pancakes. Who knows what else can happen when you bring your sweetie breakfast in bed? 😉
Winter is my favorite time of the year. It’s cold and perfect for snuggling together. Not only is there Valentine’s Day, but it’s also the season for blood oranges. This cocktail is full of blood orange juice, passion fruit juice, pineapple juice, and champagne.
It’s a super easy drink recipe. Need to make it a mocktail? Just leave out the champagne, and it still tastes delicious!

Did you know blood oranges date as far back as the 8th century and were first cultivated in Sicily, Italy? They were seen as a sign of opulence as on the rich and wealthy could put them on the table.
It’s believed that blood oranges are just a naturally occurring genetic mutation. I just find that fascinating. Unlike regular oranges, they are able to produce anthocyanin, which is a phytochemical found in red wine, red apples and my favorite berries like blueberries and raspberries.
I just love the colors of blood oranges and slicing one open. You never know if it will be a beautiful dark red or just a hint of blush. They are tangy and sweet at the same time. When you juice them, the juice is a gorgeous pink red color – perfect for a little love potion!
A trick I learned to get the most juice out of an orange is to warm them up just a little right before juicing. It definitely worked for me, I was able to juice these blood oranges until absolutely nothing but pulp was left, and I was only using hand squeezing juicer.

This is absolutely gorgeous! But I am not waiting to try until Valentines Day 🙂
Oh my gosh I LOVE this, I just started secretly planning a valentines dinner for my hubby and I and this baby has made the list! thank you for sharing! 🙂
I was first introduced to the blood orange when I thought I purchased a regular orange and cut into the blood orange and almost took them back to the store until my 8 year old educated me on what blood oranges were…
What a pretty drink! 🙂 I’m not the greatest cook in the world, but I think I could probably throw this and some pancakes together for Valentine’s–it’s the thought that counts, right!? 🙂 I don’t think I’ve ever had a blood orange before, but I’m going to have to find some. They’re just so pretty!
