My kids have loved frozen chocolate-dipped banana pops forever. I would often buy them at the store, but they are so expensive. I figured out these are super easy to make at home, and you can totally do this, too!

What do you need to make Chocolate-Dipped Banana Pops?
- 4 Ripe Bananas
- 12 oz Package Chocolate Chips (semi sweet or milk chocolate)
- 2 Tbsp Shortening
- 8 Popsicle Sticks
- Chopped Peanuts & Sprinkles for decorating
How do you make Chocolate-Dipped Banana Pops?
Peel bananas and cut in half. Push a popsicle stick into the cut end of each banana half.
Place halves on a baking sheet covered in wax paper or parchment paper.
Cover with plastic wrap and place in the freezer for at least 3 hours. Once the bananas are frozen it is time to dip them in chocolate.
Prepare your sprinkles and chopped nuts and place wax paper or parchment on the counter or a baking sheet for the dipped bananas.
The best way to melt the chocolate chips to dip the bananas is by placing a mason jar in a pot of water. You can also use a double boiler but the mason jar makes dipping easier.
Place the chocolate chips and shortening in the jar and place it in a small pot filled about halfway with water. Heat the pan over medium heat and stir the chocolate chips occasionally until melted and smooth.
Remove the bananas from the freezer. Dip them one at a time into the melted chocolate, allowing any excess to drip off and then immediately sprinkle with nuts or sprinkles if desired. Place on wax paper to cool completely.
Once the chocolate is hardened you can serve right away, or wrap the tightly with plastic wrap and place in the freezer until ready to serve. If serving from the frozen, remove from the freezer for 5-10 minutes before eating to soften a bit.
