Fall is the perfect time for a little road trip. It’s nice to take a break after school starts back up and before the holidays to hang out with my husband and kids. Recently, we had a big weekend planned with a road trip down to Austin to do a bunch of fun things.
Then, I found out I was pregnant with baby #4, and I developed a bad case of bronchitis. We had to cancel our trip much to the disappointment of the kids. After a couple of weeks, I finally got over the bronchitis, so we made a fun day road trip through the country to a giant pumpkin patch and stopped along the way at one of our favorite drive-ins.
We took the winding roads in the country up to the pumpkin patch, but along the way we stopped at an old favorite for a late lunch. This little drive-in has been around for more than 60 years. They make their own root beer, and it is so delicious. You can have it served in a frosty mug along with one of the best burgers around and some fresh onion rings. For dessert, we always like to share a root beer float. Yum! It was the perfect start to our trip down to the pumpkin patch.
We headed to a giant pumpkin patch, which was full of acres and acres of stuff to do from bounce houses to all kinds of wooden characters to get your pictures made. There was a train ride and hayrides, and so many things to do. They even had food trucks.
Molly did two hay mazes by herself! You had to crawl in and then find your way through, and they are big and winding. I have to admit I was very nervous, but she made it out in both.
Car safety is the most important thing when it comes to my kids. When we head out on a road trip I always make sure my kids are in the proper car seats, but I want them safe an comfortable. I was thrilled to partner with Graco to try their new Graco Extend2Fit 3-in-1 Car Seat for our youngest. I wish we had this seat when she was a baby and toddler. Now, she’s just grown into the booster position, and I love the features on this car seat. Many booster seats do not allow you to use the LATCH system in your car, but this one does! With a one-second LATCH attachment, it makes installing so easy.
Here’s a little video about using this as a booster and the features I love. Check out how easy it is to store the harness and raise and lower the headrest!
Now the AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics) recommends children stay rear facing until they are at least 2 years old or reached the maximum height or weight for their rear facing car seat. I always wanted to keep my babies rear facing as long as possible, but there was just never any leg room. The new Graco Extend2Fit 3-in-1 Car Seat solves that problem because it has a 3-position extension panel that adds five inches of extra legroom so they can be comfortable rear facing for a longer time!
You will only need one car seat from start to finish! It’s the perfect car seat to grow with your child:
- rear-facing with harness from 4 – 50 lbs
- forward-facing with harness from 22 – 65 lbs
- high-back belt-positioning booster from 30 – 100 lbs
There are just so many great features about this car seat from the Fuss-Free Harness Storage that holds the buckle out of the way to the level indicator for the 6 reclining positions. The SimplySafe™ Adjust harness system has 10 adjustable positions to move the headrest and harness all together – no threading the straps in an out to make it bigger!
It’s side-impact tested and has a steel-reinforced frame for strength and durability for up to 10 years!
I was thoroughly impressed with this car seat. It answered all the problems I’ve had with car seats from the easy LATCH system to the adjustable harness and headrest. I have pretty big babies, so we generally skip the infant seat and go right to a convertible seat. We will definitely be getting another one of these for our upcoming new arrival.
You can find the Extend2Fit 3-in-1 Car Seat at Babies R Us for $249.99. To learn more, visit Graco on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and Pinterest.

I love that this seat grows with your child as their body changes. My 5 year old is still in a 5 point harness, he is small and I feel he is safest there.
