In a few days, we are headed out on a fun-filled road trip. We are dropping my teenager off at a Forensic Science Camp for high school kids at the college she is seriously considering attending next year. Then, the rest of us are headed on an adventure down on the coast. We’re going to visit NASA, the beach, an aquarium and so much more! BUT…
Before we head out on a road trip, my husband makes sure our car and tires are in great shape. Sometimes that means new tires.
Do you know how to check the tread to see if you need new tires? One easy way is the penny test. Insert a penny into your tire’s tread groove with Lincoln’s head upside down and facing you. If you can see all of Lincoln’s head, the depth of the tire tread is less than 2/32 inch, and you need to replace your tires.
We just had to get new tires and a battery for my minivan, and we always get our tires from Sam’s Club. They have the best tire brands and the best “all-in” prices — guaranteed! The Sam’s Club Tire Installation Package* has the following benefits and services for as long as you are a member of Sam’s Club:
- Tire Mounting
- Tire Lifetime Balancing
- Tire Lifetime Rotation
- A Value Stem
- No Charge Tire Lifetime Flat Repair

* Complete terms and conditions of all Sam’s Club warranties and services can be obtained at any Sam’s Club Tire and Battery Center location
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve taken them up on the lifetime flat repair. I also stop by and have them check the air in my tires regularly.
Right now they have some Hot Deals on Wheels ! Check these out:
- Get $70 off on any set of 4 new Michelin passenger or light truck tires (ends July 3, 2016)
- Save $60 off – Save big on any set of four Goodyear® car, minivan or light truck tires (Savings reflected when you pay in club)

Your Sam’s Club membership gets you unbeatable deals on so many things including auto and tire services. With Sam’s Club you get THE best tire brands at the THE best all-in prices and matching offers from Michelin, Goodyear, Pirelli, and BF Goodrich. Each tire purchase includes the Tire Installation Package. At $15/tire ($25/dually tire), this is an amazing deal!
Here’s how the “Dare to Compare” deal works:
You bring a valid “all-in” quote from another tire sales and installation retailer to your local Sam’s Club Tire and Battery Center. This quote must be printed on the retailer’s letterhead with a date from the last 7 days. The tires must the exact same brand, line, load index, and speed rating as the tires you want to purchase at Sam’s Club.
Sometimes, Sam’s Club carries club-specific tire lines, and with these Sam’s Club will compare that tire line to the equivalent general market tire line. Sam’s Club considers the following tire lines to be equivalent and will price match accordingly:
- Club-Specific Tire Model
- General-Market Tire Model
- BFGoodrich Touring T/A
- BFGoodrich Advantage T/A
- Michelin Defender XT
- Michelin Defender
- Michelin X Radial LT2
- Michelin LTX M/S2
Sam’s Club works hard everyday to save their members money on tires. Let Sam’s Club #DareToCompare and help you save and get summer ready today!

We’re Sam’s Club members, and this deal is just ONE of the awesome reasons to be a part of their club. Sam’s is the bomb diggity.
We always make sure our car is up to speed when it comes to road trips. It’s so important to keep your car running great when taking it away from home.
I’m not a Sam’s Club Member yet but I’ve been considering becoming one. I’d have to travel a pretty good ways to the nearest one and I only go to the location, at most, once a year. If I decide to become one, I’ll have to check out all of their tire features to get my car ready to travel.
We’re flying down to Charlotte next week to drive back the last of our vehicles. We’ve got someone taking care of it for us down there so we can drive it back without worrying about actually making it back!
We are making a couple road trips this summer! Great tips for getting your car ready for summer trips!
These are great tips for a summer road trip and making sure your car is ready!
We just returned from a two week road trip . Hope you guys have a great time. I told my husband to get the oil changed in our SUV before we left ad he thought I was bonkers. Men!
We always make sure our car is ready for road trips. Next week we are heading to the beach. The girls are very excited.
I always make sure that my car is ready when I’m going on a road trip. I think it’s important to make sure everything is in working order. I’m glad my husband when to school for being a mechanic. That way he can make sure everything is working right.
Tires are a huge one for me, I was in shock when I had a flat and the guy at the tire shop told me he was surprised I hadn’t had a blow out. SO scary, I actually got new tires at Sam’s the next day. Love Sam’s Club prices and their protection plan.
I always go in for a service appointment before a road trip. It is a great way to avoid any surprises while on the road.
Never thought about Sam’s Club for this service. I will see if mine does it!
It is so important to do routine checks before you leave on holiday especially the tyres. I am always stressing about this.
These really are great deals right now for Sam’s Club. We don’t have a Sam’s Club her but we do have a Walmart Super Store here. Thanks for sharing the tips and deals.
Tires are so important especially when headed out on a trip. Who wants to spend countless hours on the side of the road for a flat or blow out. I need to get new tires in a year or so on our SUV.
Great post and imagine something not most people do not think about. Until recently we had older cars so we put our vehicles through a barrage of “tests” before going anywhere … checking tires is a must! Regardless of the age of a vehicle it just is. Have a great time on your trip and enjoy the adventure.
My car is ready to go!! Now the question is, am I?? LOL!!
Thanks a lot for this post, we will be heading out for our annual road trip in a couple of weeks and this really helps.
Thanks for sharing. I’m a Sam’s Club member and it’s time for new tires. Thanks for sharing the sale info. – Yolonda
