For my kids, even though the days continue to be long and hot, the official end of summer is always the beginning of school around Labor Day. In just a couple of weeks, the kids will be back in school. We have a little tradition where we celebrate Labor Day and the end of summer with a family cookout complete with dessert on the grill. Do you know what the ‘Official Dessert of the BBQ’ is?
That would definitely be S’mores! They are the perfect sweet treats for any grilling occasion. They aren’t official S’mores without making sure you have the quintessential HONEY MAID Grahams, HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate and JET-PUFFED Marshmallows.
My kids loves to spend time together as a family, so they always get excited when I plan to have delicious gooey S’mores after a great summer backyard cookout. Making S’mores together just has a way of feeling a little bit magical. It’s such a great way for us to slow down and enjoy the last of summer together.
Here are a few of my favorite tips to get the perfect deliciously gooey S’mores:
1. Use long skewers or sticks for proper marshmallow roasting over a coal grill.
2. Create a little buffet of all three ingredients — HONEY MAID Grahams, HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate and JET-PUFFED Marshmallows— for your S’mores. Then, everyone can easily put their own together.
3. The perfect time for marshmallow roasting is after you’ve cooked a meal on the grill and the coals are hot and ready and gray in color.
4. Everybody likes their marshmallows roasted a bit differently. But our favorite is to let them get a little brown and crispy before removing them from the grill. It just adds to the flavor of your S’mores.
5. As soon as your JET-PUFFED Marshmallow is ready, slide it between the HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate and HONEY MAID Grahams for the perfect grand finale to an awesome cookout.
There is nothing like freshly made S’mores with roasted marshmallows right from the grill. Not only are they delicious, but so easy-to-make, too. With adult supervision, the kids have so much fun making their own.

We love s’mores around here. Who doesn’t. Nothing says summer like a nice gooey s’more.
I have not had s’mores in years and now wishing the weather would improve in the UK so we can have a true BBQ weekend and I can make some S’mores.
We don’t really do smores over here, but I really need to give them a whirl next time we are doing a BBQ as they sound delicious.
I love s’mores + I’m on Nutrisystem so what’s a girl to do. Make s’mores with the Nutrisystem Nutrichocolates of course. They’re really tasty and I get to spend time with my family making s’mores without deviating from my plan.
We don’t do s’mores at BBQs and I always assumed it was a camping thing… maybe I’ll have to try next time we have a BBQ!
Oh! You have a cute family! I really need to do a family s’mores night while the weather is nice.
Smores are my favorite summer dessert. They’re perfect for cookouts and for camping as well! I love using peanut butter cups instead of plain chocolate, but any smore is a good smore.
We love making and eating smores and we always have everything on hand. We love them during the summer and during the fall.
Oh my gosh this must have been so fun! I totally need to prep the fire pit and have a night of stories and s’mores.
It doesn’t get any more summertime than Smores. Except your marshmallows are so RAW lol – I love mine burned black on the outside!
Summertime makes me think of a place my family has camped for years. Smores were a must for every campfire.
I am s’mores OBSESSED. We make them with our dear friends all the time and now spice them up with Nutella, peanut butter, and fruit. SO GOOD.
We have all of the ingredients to make them and just bought a fire pit but we have been putting it off because we are too busy. I want to make them so bad though!
Smores always look so good and fun, but I don’t like graham crackers – it’s a texture thing. Fun hanging out and watching others enjoy though.
You can never go wrong with smores! My kids just assume that if we grill or have a bonfire that smores will be involved as well. It is hard to argue with that logic and yummy treat!
Delicious! When we have a cook out at my in laws we do this. We gather around the fire pit and have S’mores. The kids love it.
This is AMAZING!!!! We have a fire pit so I’ve never thought of using the grill, but this is a genius idea! Sometimes we run out of the fake wooden logs we buy at Home Depot for the fire pit (haha it’s so much easier than real wood!) so I have to try the grill as an alternative option!
The smores look great! Now I’m craving some. I have all the ingredients I need in my pantry. Sounds like that would be a great idea for the family to do this weekend. Thanks for the idea!
No BBQ party is ever complete without s’mores! We are having my sister and her family over this weekend and we’ll be having our “before school opening BBQ party.” The kids (and adults) would love this for dessert.
