Do your teenagers still take their lunch to school? My daughter is a sophomore this year, and she very rarely buys her lunch. It can get expensive, and the choices are rather limited. She tells me the lunch line is huge, which also cuts into lunch time. This means I have to come up with a lot of lunch box ideas.
Recently, she’s been attending band camp all day long.  They are there from 8 AM to 4 PM, so I had an early start for coming up with lunch ideas.  Before band camp, I headed to Walmart and picked up various lunch supplies including Nestle’s Nesquik Ready to Drink Flavored Milk and little treats with Fun Size WONKA® NERDS®.
One of Miss Em’s favorite drinks is chocolate milk, so I knew that would be a nice surprise to find in her lunch. Â Plus, after spending all morning drinking tons of water, it’s a nice break at lunch time. I also like to put a little surprise in all their lunches. Sometimes it’s a note, sometimes it’s a sticker, and sometimes it’s a little fun size piece of candy. Miss Em loves to share treats she finds in her lunch with her friends, so I thought a couple of Fun Size Wonka Nerds would be fun to share with everyone.
Not only are the lunch lines long, but she tells me the microwave lines are also very long, too. It can be a challenge to find quick and easy recipes to pack in her lunch that don’t require a microwave besides just the regular standbys of peanut butter and jelly or turkey and cheese sandwiches.
Lately, I’ve been getting creative in the kitchen. My kids love having the bento box style lunches — even my teenager! Since band camp started a few weeks ago, I’ve been trying out various bento meals for her.
The recipe I’m sharing today was a HUGE hit with her and my other kids as well. I call it Chicken Taco Roll ups. You can really make these in a variety of ways. This is my family’s favorite way to eat taco roll ups.
You can make 2-3 roll ups in just a matter of minutes. Check out how easy it is:
