Whenever I have groceries delivered, I always make sure to include the ingredients for my Extra Cheesy Lasagna. It’s a total family favorite that I’ve shared with friends and family for many years. I cannot wait to share how to make this easy meal with all of you. Your family will rave about it!
Years ago I would buy the lasagna noodles you would need to cook ahead of time. Then, I found Skinner Pasta Oven Ready Lasagna noodles. They make it so incredibly easy because I don’t have to cook them ahead of time. I can just layer and bake, and it’s ready!
This lasagna is quick and easy to make, and it always comes out just perfect. I love serving it when we’re having friends over. It’s a hearty meal that makes everyone feel good.

Extra Cheesy Lasagna
Brown the meat and add the garlic and Parmesan cheese. Then, add the spaghetti sauce and crushed tomatoes.
My little trick is to half fill the spaghetti sauce jar with water and shake it up to get every last bit of sauce and then pour it into the meat sauce mixture and let it simmer. Once it’s bubbly, I turn the fire off and start the layering.
I start with a layer of meat sauce topped with shredded mozzarella cheese.
Then, I add four noodles overlapping just slightly.
Next, I add the ricotta cheese over the noodles. Then, it’s time to start over again until I run out of noodles. I usually get three layers of lasagna noodles. When I get to the last lasagna noodles, I top them with ricotta cheese and then pour the last of the meat sauce over the top. Then, I sprinkle the last of the shredded mozzarella cheese.
Lastly, I top it all off with sliced fresh mozzarella.
When it’s time to bake, I cover the top with foil. At the last 3-4 minutes of baking, I remove the foil and turn the oven to broil on high to let the top cheese brown just a little.
Then, I pull it out and let it cool while I make a salad and a few veggies. This lasagna makes perfect leftovers. In fact, my kids sometimes fight over who gets to take the leftovers for lunch the next day at school.

That looks absolutely amazing! You had me at “extra cheesy”. I can’t wait to make this for the fam. We LOVE lasagna.
Lasagna is totally my type of soul food and this recipe looks fabulous! I love that you really made sure to pile on the goodness.
Lasagna is one of my weaknesses! I’m somewhat picky in that I have to either have it with sausage or hamburger cooked in, or on the side, with or without meatballs. Blame my mother-in-law for that! lol. I love this recipe!
That looks absolutely amazing! Lasagna is the ultimate comfort food! My son went through a phase where he wanted lasagna for every meal because he was obsessed with Garfield!
Love a good cheesy lasagna. My daughter’s birthday is coming up and she said she wants lasagna on that day. Thanks for sharing the recipe.
This looks really amazing. You can never have enough cheese. This would also tastes great with zucchini in place of the noodles. Yum!
Yum, I love homemade lasagna. My husband doesn’t always care for it though. When I make my own, I always add lots of cheese too.
What a great idea to put the sliced mozzarella versus shredded. It really gives it that cheese pop.
How delicious! Lasagna has always been one of my favorite comfort foods, but it has been awhile since I’ve had it. That shall change soon, though!
Perfect cheesy lasagna! I would love to try this this weekend. Looks so delicious.
