We love to go to see the fireworks on the 4th of July. We live next to a college town that puts on a huge fireworks display on the 4th in the football stadium. Every year we bring along a simple picnic to share while we enjoy the fireworks.
A few years ago the fireworks display was inside the stadium. The fireworks would shoot up and out the entrances to the seating on one side of the stadium. We were allowed to picnic on the football field or sit on the opposite side. Last year, they just built a brand new stadium, and it’s a little different now. You can’t picnic on the field or bring your own food, and the fireworks are now shooting up behind the stadium.
Now we sit outside the stadium with lot of other families and have a fun picnic with the kids. I like to make it as simple as possible – no mason jars or fancy egg salad sandwiches. I bring sandwiches, fruits and veggies, and drinks. Here a few easy tips for having an easy picnic.
1. Bring a blanket and chairs.
2. Pack the sandwiches together in the bread bag.
3. Bring 2-3 drinks per person like Dr. Pepper Cherry® and Dr. Pepper Vanilla Float®.
4. Don’t forget the sunscreen and bug spray.
5. Make sure to bring paper towels and wipes.
6. With a cooler with wheels, pack as much as possible in it.
7. Always bring a trash bag.
Have fun and enjoy yourself. Our picnic went off great.
The kids loved the fireworks, and we had a relaxing time! Here’s a little clip of what we got to see:
For a limited time, you can find Dr. Pepper Cherry® and Dr. Pepper Vanilla Float® at select Safeway or Albertsons stores.
