I think I’m finally a convert for eBooks, especially for children. While I do love the smell of a book, it’s so much easier to read on an iPad with a toddler rather than pull out a huge book and flip the pages, wondering if they’re going to get excited and rip a page. (Yep, we had that happen with a library book recently. Eek!)
Blucy is the story of Mandy and the cat, Lucy, she adopts from the animal shelter. She starts out as Lucy, but quickly becomes Blucy because when she gets excited she turns blue!
“If Lucy got excited or she felt some sudden mood,
The fur upon her body changed to match her attitude.
So Mandy named her “Blucy,” as it seemed the thing to do
Since Blucy was the only cat whose color changed to blue.”
This is another great one from Julia Dweck! The illustrations are beautiful and colorful. And, I love her books because the rhyming style just flows so easily when I read it out loud to my little girl. She loves this story and frequently requests it at bedtime. She is turning into quite the cat lover.
The author, Julia Dweck, has several other eBooks as well. I’ve read a few, and they are all as entertaining as this one. I’ll be reviewing a couple more of her books soon. You can see all her eBooks on Amazon. I think there’s even a free one today. Also, check out her web page – Jule Loves 2 Write
Like her other books, the author includes fun facts about cats and some fun activity pages at the end of the book. I have to admit this is one of my favorite parts of the book. Even grown ups can learn something new!
