I love baking during the holidays, but I like to make it easy. So, I take a box mix here and a box mix there, and I mix them together. Today we’re doing this with red velvet box cake mix and brownie mix to make some amazing Peppermint Swirl Red Velvet Brownies.

I just love the swirls of brownie and red velvet in these. It makes them look so festive and perfect for that holiday get together! We might just need to make a few of these for Santa’s snack!
This recipe will make one 9 x 13 pan batch of brownies. For the brownie mix, I tend to like to use fudge brownies as I like gooey brownies, and they are gooier. But, you can make these with any brownie mix.

Red Velvet Brownies
When you make up the brownie part of this recipe, follow the instructions on the box, using those ingredients, which usually include eggs, water and oil. I did not include those ingredients in the recipe card below.
For the red velvet cake mix, you’ll use the ingredients mentioned in the recipe card because you’ll want a denser batter, more like brownie batter than cake batter.
