From Halloween to Christmas my family loves to watch the movie Nightmare Before Christmas. My kids and I can all sing all the songs in the movie, and we just love it. It’s just the perfect way to put you in the mood for both holidays.
It’s also another reason why I love Disneyland in California more than Disney World in Florida. They turn the Haunted Mansion ride into the Nightmare Before Christmas at Disneyland. They don’t do that at Disney World.
Today I have an easy peasy and fun crafty recipe to make Ding Dongs into Jack Skellington! Perfect for your Halloween party or your Christmas party! Here’s how to do it:
Pick up some Hostess White Fudge Ding Dongs. You can find them at Walmart stores or Amazon. Unwrap the ding dongs and place them onto a cookie sheet fitted with wax paper and set aside.
Next, using an electric mixer, add powder sugar, egg white, cream of tarter, and vanilla and beat on medium for 5-6 minutes. Once stiff peaks form, scoop the icing into another bowl and add in a few drops of black food coloring and mix. Keep adding a few drops of food coloring at a time and mixing to get to the shade you want. I like it to be as black as possible.
Next, scoop the icing into the piping bag and pipe on Jack’s eyes and lines for his nose onto the top center of the ding dong.
Next pipe the line and stitching for his mouth close to the bottom of the ding dong.
Let the ding dongs sit and dry for an hour before serving.
