Sometimes I just dread weeknight meals. We are a very busy big family with four kids, and it seems some days everyone is going a million directions. I’m not a big meal planner, so I usually decide what to cook in the afternoon. It can be a challenge to cook quick and easy weeknight meals that also aren’t just the same old, same old. Plus, I want it to be something everyone likes. It can often feel like an impossible task, especially as a busy mom who is also running her own business.
I hate to admit it, but many times I just run out of time and we end up getting take out. But, this week I discovered something new in the freezer section at HEB – Tyson® Fully Cooked Dinner and Entrée Kits. You can find them in the frozen meat department with other Tyson products.
Each kit serves 2 people. They come with proteins, veggies, and sauces that are already prepped, portioned, and frozen at the peak of freshness. This was exactly what I was looking for on those busy weeknights I just don’t have time to spend a long time cooking. They have six varieties to choose from, and I found all six at HEB. These flavors all sound just scrumptious to me — check them out:
- Crispy Chicken Pomodoro
- Lemon Parmesan Chicken
- Seasoned Steak Fillet & Mushrooms
- Roasted Ginger Chicken
- Citrus Roasted Chicken
- Peppercorn Seared Steak
We tried two of the kits last night for dinner. I decided to make Tyson Fully Cooked Dinner Kit – Crispy Chicken Pomodoro as well as the Dinner Kit – Seasoned Steak Fillet & Mushrooms.
When I opened the packaging, the meats looked high quality and were already fully cooked and vacuum-sealed into the trays. Everything looked fresh with no freezer burn!
The Tyson Crispy Chicken Pomodoro Meal Kit took about 20 minutes to cook from start to finish, and the Seasoned Steak Fillet & Mushrooms took even less time. The chicken was baked in the oven while everything else was just cooked between two skillets. The veggies are easily cooked in a skillet in just a few minutes and the sauces are microwavable.
From my experience with other meal kits, I was prepared to have to work fast and pay attention to multiple pots and things, but it was a nice surprise that these took minimal effort to cook.
I think these would be perfect for just about anyone, from busy families to the empty nesters who just need a small meal for two or the college kid who wants to start making their own food. My oldest is getting her first apartment this fall semester, and I’ll be heading to her local HEB to stock up her freezer with a few of these kits for her.
I was very happy with how these all came out last night. It didn’t take me long to make, and they were delicious.
You won’t believe how much easier weeknight dinner time can be with these kits! You don’t need defrost or plan anything ahead of time! Just pop them out of the freezer and make a beautiful dinner!
The next time you’re grocery shopping at HEB make sure you get the HEB digital coupon for these entrée kits! It’s $2 off any ONE Tyson Fully Cooked Dinner or Entrée Kit, and it ends 9/30.
