Have you heard of Giving Tuesday? It wasn’t until just a few years ago that I learned about it. It’s traditionally the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (which is today!) where people are encouraged to give their time, donations, goods, and their voice to help others.
Helping others is something I grew up doing, and it’s something I encourage in my own children now. Being an ambassador for T-Mobile, I have loved seeing how they are constantly giving and support things like Giving Tuesday. Scroll down to learn more!

Encouraging Children to Give
Usually my husband and I are the first to raise our hand when someone asks for help. We also love getting our kids in the act of volunteering and giving to others. We often talk to our kids about helping others and donating their time and things. Just this weekend instead of Black Friday shopping, we cleaned out everyone’s closets to find coats and warm clothing we could donate this week for Giving Tuesday.
My husband and I both grew up in families where volunteering and helping others was important. When I was a teenager I volunteered for a radio station for the blind that also recorded audio tapes of books and textbooks for blind children and adults. I spent several hours a week mass producing new tapes from the original recordings.
For the past couple years, my husband’s office has a low income high school they have adopted where they often go to work to repair and beautify the school. My husband and the kids recently built picnic tables and painted new ceiling tiles for the school.
T-Mobile & Giving
For this Giving Tuesday this year, T-Mobile has set aside more than $2 million dollars and they are letting their customers, fans, employees (and yes, even Verizon and AT&T customers) to decide where it goes! But, they are also committed to giving beyond just today. As am ambassador for T-Mobile, I have seen how they support youth education. They also aid in disaster relief and hunger in American, plus so much more!
Today if you’re a T-Mobile customer, use the TMT app and you can get a chance to give $1 to Feeding America, where $1 = 10 meals. You can also text-to-give as well. There’s also a chance you can win a gift code you can use to donate to your favorite charity.
For T-Mobile employees, T-Mobile is depositing $27 in every employee’s Giving Account which they can donate to the charity of their own choosing, and T-Mobile will match any additional donations on behalf of its employees.
And if you’re not a T-Mobile customer or employee, you can still help! Every time you retweet @TMobile’s Giving Tuesday tweet on 11/27, T-Mobile will donate $1 to Feeding America, and every $1 provides 10 meals!
