I have 3 kids, and they have all fought me to sleep as babies and toddlers. Now that the oldest two are a teen and tween, they never want to get out of bed, but as babies and toddlers, it was a constant battle.
Thankfully, I discovered Lullabytes recently for my 3 year old from Baby Bytes. It’s geared toward younger babies, but it works wonders on her, too. Not only does it have several lullabies, you can also download an extra group of sounds like “babbling brook,” “soft rain,” and “clothes dryer.”
I swear my 3 year old will fall asleep almost instantly to the babbling brook sound. She also loves the lullabies, especially for nap time. I’ll put her down with my iPhone or the iPad on my bed for a nap during the day, and she loves to listen to the lullabies. Even if she doesn’t completely fall asleep, the sounds and lullabies will give her at least a 30 minute rest. One thing I discovered with her was that you can hide the time count, so that your child can just watch the colors slowly change on the image. For my daughter, this is very relaxing and helps her fall asleep.
There is also a sleep diary that will automatically keep track of your baby’s sleeping patterns, especially if you have the Sleeper Keeper which restarts the music if your baby wakes after the music ends. All that is customizable so you can change the restart time and you can set the amount of time to play as they sleep. The brightness and volume are also customizable, too.
I didn’t have much interest in the sleep diary feature so I didn’t use it extensively. My daughter being a toddler now sleeps through the night, so I’m not worried about how much sleeps she’s getting. I mainly use this app to get her to fall asleep easier, which works great! But, if I’d had this when she was a younger baby, it would have been very helpful to see exactly how much sleep she was getting when she was still waking at night to nurse.
If you have a baby or toddler, I’d definitely check out this app! It’s currently free, and it might surprise you with how helpful it can be in getting your little one to sleep.
